Teaching Peace.......2007-05-07
Excellent for use at home. Outstanding for classroom climate in younger grades.
Wonderful, Wonderful!.......2007-01-13
I've been giving this(first a cassette, now a cd) as a gift to children since it first appeared in the mid-80's. It's as fresh and wonderful today as it was then. I know many children who grew up knowing the words to all the songs and internalizing the wonderful messages they impart.Check out other cd's by Red.
Grandchildren Love It.......2007-01-05

This is the album that started it all for George and Andrew! Whether or not it will ever be "cool" to admit liking them, Make It Big sounds pretty good after all of these years. Granted, "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" is an impossible notion to begin with--who could possibly sleep after this sugar binge? But "Everything She Wants" has a sophisticated tension in its syncopation, and, wow, could the boy sing! "Careless Whisper" really showed that George Michael had a firm grasp on R&B and soul. --Steve Gdula
Customer Reviews:
My Idea of good music.......2006-12-09
This album featuring George Michael is one of the best albums ever made. It sold over a million copies and had a number of hit singles and videos. This album has always been mainstream since its release. Careless Whisper and Everything She WAnts are my favorite tracks on a great album that has no weak tracks. If you want to dance or just chill, it is also a great breakup album. Now this is my idea of good music- not some cheaply made by drunken psychos lo fi black metal album that's made in Europe and is really hard to find in America.
Amazing.......2006-12-07
I was a kid when this album came out, but I remember my mom bought the LP and going around singing it. George Michael's vocals are nothing short of incredible. The compositions (also by Michael) are put together very well, and Andrew Ridgeley did a good job of bringing the album about.
I once sang the first part of "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" to my girlfriend (as it played), and her face lit up with the most brilliant smile I've ever seen. This album is magic; give it a try.
The Real Edge Of Heaven.......2006-06-25
1984 was a very huge year with so many great acts with a lot of great music from Madonna starting out with Lucky Star, Michael Jackson securing the definitive spots with Thriller, and Lionel Richie hot everybody to party all night long. THere was just so much great music all around. That also was shown with George Michael and Andrew Ridgley of Wham!. They held their own as one of the most definitive guilty pleasure acts of the 80's era. Even today, those classic are still just delightful and fun to really listen to. Although Wham! had only made three records, their second one was the most definitive of their great classic songs.
Wham!'s 1984 guilty pleasure record Make It Big is truly a great delight to listen to today, as much as it was two decades ago when it was released. The songs here still sound great and fun to dance like it was 1984 all over again. The collection remains definitive with classics like Freedom, the deep Everything She Wants, the great diddy Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, and the soulful Careless Whisper. The record has been recently reissued and it sounds better than it did over twenty years ago. Although I just wish that there could've been a few more songs than just the actual eight tracks, it still is a great record to play around with.
Arguably, despite Wham!'s position to some as the spark that launched the boy band crazes of the late 80's and 90's, this record is still a great must have for any 80's owner. Make It Big is a great classic for any die hard fan of George Michael and Wham!, and that is a Careless Whisper you should care about.

GREAT CD! .......2006-06-04
I love this CD! It has three really good songs, they are:
"Wake me up before you go-go" - This one is a fun song to listen to.
"Careless Whisper" - This is a classic and I love the lyrics and different tunes.
"Everything She Wants" - This is a GREAT dance song with a really catchy beat.
All of the other songs are either great, or good. They all have original tunes, great rhythms and style. The only songs I dont like as much are "Like A baby" and "Credit Card Baby" is okay.
Made it big........2006-04-16
After liking Wham for about, oh 20 years now, I thought I'd get some. I was gonna get the import "best of", then realized the songs I wanted were all on here anyway, minus "Last Christmas". There's not many albums that offer half the songs as hits. Only "Thriller", "Purple Rain", and George's own "Faith" come to mind. I still think George is underrated as a writer and musician. Anyway, this album gives us "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Careless Whisper" as the huge hits, and "Everything She Wants" and "Freedom" as well, which are my two faves. The other four tracks are still good, just not hit-caliber like those four. The only complaint I have is "Make It Big" needs remastering badly, and there really should be a U.S. "Hits" disc. Still, this is the 80's at its best, though some might say worst. It's a must for me anyway.

Customer Reviews:
Instruments of the Orchestra - Great Reference Material!.......2007-04-04
This set lends itself to greatly enhancing one's knowledge of the orchestra, instruments in it, and their usage. I am a huge music buff, and I still picked up a great deal I previously did not know. I highly recommend this for all who wish to understand the origin of music, as well as the processes that are employed to create music!
Beginner or Expert.......2007-03-12
This CD is excellent for the beginner or expert! To be able to haear the instrumets separately and then together really provides a good education. and/or refresher. The book thaty comes with the CD is alomost worth the price by itself!
Very Informative and Enjoyable.......2006-11-20
Whether you're a music novice or pro, "The instruments of the Orchestra" is a very worthwhile purchase. The 7 CDs, with a total of 8 hours, are expertly narrated by Jeremy Siepmann. He's a great speaker, very much like the late Leonard Bernstein was. Mr. Siepmann takes you on an unforgetable musical journey covering the origins and use of the various orchestral instruments throughout musical history. The balance between his narration and a wealth of musical examples, which range from snippets to entire movements, is superb. The comprehensive enclosed booklet is excellent and faithfully follows the 7 CDs in content. Even with my 40+ years of music training I still learned new things from this wonderful collection. Considering the excellence of the content, and a cost that translates to about $5 per disc, this collection is a great value. Grab it, you won't regret that you did. Five solid stars!
Frank's view.......2006-08-19
This boxed set of CD's with booklet achieved all I had hoped that it would. There are good samples of individual instruments and well done commentary on each. The only drawback was that some of the samples were too brief and could have been longer, hoiwever I guess this fits in with time constraints of the medium. It has given me a lot of clues as to future purchases of CD's for listening to individual instruments. Altogeth a satisfactory purchase and a welcome addition to my collection.
Excellent Intro for Those Not Familiar with the Orchestra.......2003-11-08
I've listened to classical music for years and am interested in composition. I bought this CD set to learn how an orchestra and its instruments work. I thought the CDs would be a nice but boring lecture. They aren't! Not only are they FUN but they are informative as well. I learned a huge amount from each CD and couldn't wait to listen to the next one.
The narrator and writer is a great speaker and holds your attention well. He is definitely knowledgeable. He provides musical examples for each point he makes, so you get to "hear" what he just talked about. I'd say the CDs are about 65% music and 35% narration. You'll learn about the range of instruments, some history, different ways to play them, how they sound, and how they are used in the orchestra. This CD set was a great learning experience and is sold at such a low price!
I recommend this CD for those who want to learn about classical music and those who know about it but are interested in learning more about the inner workings of an orchestra. You'll learn much useful information. For instance, the Rite of Spring (with that eerie start) is written for bassoon! I never knew a bassoon could sound like that but now I do.
The one complaint I have is the last CD. This deals with the orchestra. I wanted more of a tour of how the orchestra has been used through history up to the present. Instead, it was a tour of how different groups of instruments sound. I thought it could have been better. The other 6 CDs are excellent.

Polygram tells the JB story better than anyone yet with their series of two-CD James Brown reissues, which began with Soul Pride: The Instrumentals (1960-69), continued into the mid-1960s and onward with Foundations of Funk and this set, and then ventured into the 1980s with Dead On: The Heavy Funk. This triumphant, perfectly programmed two-disc package dredges 26 neglected gems and beloved jewels from the prolific predisco years, a time when Brown's powers were in sharp form. Waist-deep in fat freaky funk, pugilistic horn arrangements, looping modal grooves, and tuff blaxploitational kitsch--primo monster funk from the source. Fans of Parliament's nonstop party jam absolutely need this to know from whence their hardcore jollies came. --John Corbett

If anyone was making this music today it would be as fresh and hip as it was in the day. Timeless, classic, funk. There are single cuts on this collection worth the price of the cd. I own tons of James Brown, but did not have this until recently. If you appreciate some of the best music ever made on this planet then you must buy this cd!
JAMES COULDN'T MADE IT FUNKIER!.......2005-09-20
A few years before disco would rob pop music of it's soul, there were artists like Brother James dishing out hard and heavy grooves with a sense of urgency. Though this era from 1971-75 pales in comparison to his classic 60's hits to many, this CD proved that James was continuing to work out his grooves at a high level. Even without milestone singles like "I feel Good" and "Papa Got a brand New Bag" in this complimation, this is his most potent batch of funk jams (in my opinion). This complimation finds James settled into his style. As a result his music is harder and looser than his earlier funk hits.
No disrespect to his 60's era which is also great, If I had to pick a favorite era of songs, it would have to be this era. Brother James was not only the Minister of Super New New Heavy Funk, his music was the bible of the genre (and hip hop).

Customer Reviews:
This album is fun!.......2003-03-14
This is the type of album that is a lot of fun to listen to and has moments of brilliance. I found myself playing songs over just to hear specific parts again. Each song seems to experience beat and time changes which creates an amalgam of stlyes in one song. This is also frustrating for it leaves you wanting more and feeling that songs weren't fully realized or underdeveloped. The upbeat nature of the album is appealing, though, as one can take so much "emo". This is an enhancing CD, it will make grass a bit greener and those few moments of contentment a little longer...Buy it in the summer and play it with the window down...Very good
Impossible genius.......2000-05-09
This album has just about everything discerning lovers of indie guitar music could ever wish for - beauty, passion, complexity, originality, even humour - it's so good it makes me laugh. Every listen unearths different treasures as the songs effortlessly glide from complex angular dischordancy to the perfect pop hook. The guitars are so truly inventive they have to be heard to be believed, whilst the vocals are pure and heart-wrenching. An essential purchase therefore, pop-pickers!
keep making it.......2000-04-29
GREAT! CHAOS! ORDER! BEAUTY! UGLYNESS! CRAZYNESS! CALM! JUST WHAT I NEED! KEEP MAKING IT IT.

Album Description
"Don't Worry 'Bout Nut'in'" is a Country by way of Texas & Louisiana, not Nashville, Americana/Country-Rock blend that'll make yer big toe shoot up in yer boot. It's Clayton Lee's brand new album. It features thirteen songs six of which were written or co-writen by the artist. "Don't Worry 'Bout Nut'in'" is an expression familiar to anyone who has spent much time in South Louisiana. It reflects a regional attitude of a people who truly live a "work hard play harder" philosophy. The title song has a New Orleans down and dirty groove to make you want to move.
There's a Louisiana flavored mambo stomp, some Texas boogies, a shuffling tribute to Steve Ripley, a couple of country ballads, and an island inspired song about an insect. It's not contrived to match anything else, it's honest and authentic, not a trite re-hash, but it fits like your favorite boots.
Clayton had his friend Terry Wilson produce this one. Terry's producer credits include Teresa James, David Lynn Jones, and Randy Sharp. As a musician, he's played with Eric Burdon, Johnny Nash, Jimmy Reed, John Martin, and was a member of Backstreet Crawler. His songs have been covered by the likes of Paul Rogers, Maria Muldaur, and Kathy Mattea. The credits and accomplishments of the fine musicians on this album would take pages to list.
So listen to the sound samples. Take a trip down South with Clayton Lee, and "Don't Worry 'Bout Nut'in'"!
