I have been a big fan of Wim for many years.
I bought the box set featuring his 13 first CDs, and this is my favorite by a good margin. While Wim's music can be amazing, consistency has never been his strong point in my book.

The quality of his music varies from track to track, and album to album, but this one is very good throughout, in slow and more lively songs.

I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to experience Wim at his best, especially if you never bought any of his many albums.

the first number is giving you a real trance, it makes you rest and you want to play it over and over...I like to work on it.. casting no shadow...
a GREAT cd. I know his music for a LONG time. This is one of the best. If you like this piano, buy jerimiades....

Another fine CD of piano-voice music by Wim Mertens(Years Without History Vol.2 is exellent!).Released in 1986 and dedicated to Wim's father it contains 7 compositions,of which Casting No Shadow and A Tiels Leis are among his finest melodies.Other compositions are very good as well and I strongly recommend this CD to all Mertens' music lovers

A brilliant album. I love Allison Moorer's music but (unless you are an Allison Moorer completist in which case nothing is going to stop you) don't pay the extra [money] for the one extra track on this import version. Bulley Jones is the only extra track, done "live-in-the-studio" at a guess and, though the lyrics are strong, nonetheless comes as a bit of an anticlimax after Dying Breed, one of the most compelling tracks on Miss Fortune and a very appropriate note to end on.

I bought the "extra tracks" version in the UK where it has been released as standard so didn't pay an arm and a leg for it but would advise any US fans who haven't got money to burn to avoid it and get the US version with which, if your tastes anything like mine, you will be well pleased.

    b-sides are weird, four winged creatures. you'd expect them to be sweet riddles, they've been out-casted from the big building that is 'the_album' and you think there must be a reason, BUT: you still end up loving them way more than the songs in the album itself.

    those featured in the good fortune single(s) do not make exception to this (if paradoxical) rule. anyone would agree that memphis is "very divine indeed!" and 66 promises (or 30, the third bee., featured on part 2) are "great songs" if nothing else.

    This cd is the best I've bought in sometime and I listen to every music type.PJ is at her best,she prevails on the best cut on the cd which is titled,"A Place Called Home". It's the third track for those of u,who are used to track numbers oppossed to titles.She writes,mixes,produces,plays lead and rhythm guitars,keys and all vocals,that kind of various talent is unheard of in todays music market. Her ingenuity is so refreshing.Buy this cd and run to the store,don't walk,it will be in your car cd changer or your walkman for months to come,trust me,it's that good.Other tracks to listen to are,"We Float","You Said Something" and "Big Exit"!
