Rock is cool, snowboarding is cool, Eris is cool. Eris is a band. Eris was formed by four men from South Seattle a place most memorable for its Chevy Novas and immaculate trailer parks. These men are Dwayne Morman, Todd Schlosser (professional snowboarder), Dave Lee (ditto), and Alan Grosvenor. Eris became a functioning unit September 1999, but originally began in 1989. High school band, skateboarding, and love for rock and roll fueled their fragile minds and impressionable souls, helping to create their thunderous wall of melody and meaning. Eris was always with them, just waiting to become them. Now there is no escape for these men. You¹re probably safe though, don¹t worry.

Eris has played shows for Boarding for Breast Cancer Arts and Music Festival at Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe, California, this led to a national snowboarding event tour with dates at the Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding, SIA Show, U.S. Open Snowboarding Championship, Boarding for Breast Cancer, and World Snowboarding Championship.

Already press darlings on the snowboarding circuit, Todd has appeared in feature snowboarding films ³Upping the Ante² and ³Stomping Grounds² as well as being the featured rider in TransWorld SNOWboarding Video Magazine #1 and #2. He has also been on the cover of numerous publications such as Stick Magazine, Snowboarder Magazine, and Transworld SNOWboarder¹s Bible 2001 JAPAN. Dave Lee has appeared in several national magazines such as Snowboarding and Transworld SNOWboarding Magazine as well as having his own line of snowboarding apparel and snowboard.

Album Description

These twelve pieces were inspired by the ancient Pythagorean conception of the Universe. This musical journey begins at Earth, and travels through the planets to the Great Beyond; passionate and mystical, reveling in the wonders of the Cosmos. "Music of the Spheres" incorporates a wealth of musical symbolism based on almost a year of William's research into ancient through modern astronomy and astrology. The fundamental concept of the album is to portray the soul's final journey from life on Earth, ascending through the planetary spheres to the Afterlife.

The original concept of the "Music of the Spheres" is credited to Pythagoras (c.569-475 BC), a musical-mathematical-mystic, but its first surviving written account appears in Plato (c.427-347 BC). At the end of his Republic, Plato gives a tour of the afterlife and a view of the planetary spheres. But for Plato they aren't true spheres, they are giant "hemispheres", nested inside of each other with just the rims exposed, all rotating on a spindle of light. A Siren is assigned to each rim, singing a single note. In short, in Plato's view, the Cosmos is an enormous glass armonica in the sky! If Plato's Sirens had merely touched the hemispheres' rims with moistened fingers instead of singing, we'd be crediting Plato with the invention of the glass armonica instead of Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790).

Composed for glass armonica and accompanied by harp, wine glass chorus, and gentle percussion.

The instrument that is central to this CD was first invented by Benjamin Franklin. It's a series of graduating glass bowls connected in the center by a rod of some kind. The whole thing turns and the edge of the bowls are played by hand. At least, that is what I understand of the instrument and it's history. Reagardless of whether you understand the mechanics of the device or not, the music is wonderfully restful, enjoyable and tranquil. I use it for my yoga sessions. I'm really pleased the insturment has been found is being played again.

A friend recommended this CD and I found the history behind the music intriguing and went to the website: [...] to sample it. I was immediately enchanted. I find it very soothing, calming and play it a lot when I'm studying, doing yoga (or taking a nap). It also seems to brighten my mood when I'm feeling stressed out. Its just really beautiful and I highly recommend it to anyone that appreciates this sort of musical experience.

I happened upon the glass harmonica or glass armonica as some call it while watching of all things KORN Unplugged. Was fascinated by the sound coming from the instrument - researched it and immediately purchased this DVD - and have not taken it out of my player. Highly recommend.

I first heard of the glass armonica when I saw the movie "Mesmer" and I really liked the strange, hypnotic sound it made. I wanted to hear more so I got this cd. I liked this one right away. The music beautifully captures the wonder, mystery and infinity of the universe. It slowly lulls you into a trance-like state and takes you into the universe of "you" where you experience your inner self. This would be the perfect cd to use in any environment where you want to induce calmness and introspection. Haunting and Delightful, Zeitler's glass armonica brings familiar melodies to life in a soothing, brilliant, beautiful way. Of the many excellent tracks on this recording, several must be heard to be believed. "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" was written to be played on this rare and vibrant instrument designed by Benjamin Franklin. There is simply no greater way to enjoy this classic than by listening to it performed by the glass armonica. "Silent Night" will take your breath away with its beautifully "light" melody that seems to float through the air as light as a feather. "Joy to the World" is truly joyous and light hearted, with amazing transients created by the armonica with soft, subtle strings playing along in perfect harmony.

When enjoying this disc, you truly feel as if you have been transported to a Victorian era music hall on Christmas Eve.

    Before I even liked this album, before I knew if it would grow on me, before I could recommend it wholeheartedly, I was stricken by the "sound" as I rarely am by any album. Whoever produced it has discovered a secret that too few producers of symphonic prog seem privy to. It is based on the simple principal that this genre is above all beautiful music and that beauty needs to be showcased. But in and of itself this is still not reason enough to overflow with accolades about the album itself. For that, I turn to the quality of the compositions, the vocals (in English), the instrumental interplay and range (winds, keys and guitars), the gorgeous melodies with enough complexity to grow with repeated listenings. Every cut is nothing short of a masterpiece, from the fusiony "The Broken Path" at 1:38 to the "side-long" title suite. The strongest of all is the closer "The Way Home", with superb saxophone and lead guitar, and a closing verse and theme that leave me wanting for both more music and oxygen. Buy!!!

    Album Description

    The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Fine Music presenter Jaroslav Kovaricek, Ph.D., compiled the selection of classical music from the Adagio (Complete Edition) series. Jaroslav designed the compilation, of nearly eighty minutes duration, into three parts, to be used for specific purposes.

    Firstly, the album can be used as a personalized sonic environment. The beauty of this music can certainly enhance our feelings of well-being and take us away from the many unpleasant sounds in our immediate surroundings.

    The second way of using this selection is to listen to it for its musical quality, to hear it purely as musical sounds, to hear every note and its dynamic and timbral quality. This process helps to build better awareness and mindfulness, to develop better sensitivity of our inner ear and improve our intuitive abilities.

    The third mode of listening can be in the practice of personal contemplation, even meditation. Once we discover the hidden mysteries of great music, we open our inner ear and the music is ready to help us on our spiritual journey.

    The first section, Baroque Movements, featuring beautiful and moving music, is designed for pleasant relaxation. The second section, Slow Motion Emotion, is more personal and can be used for meditating on a wide range of subjective themes. The third section, Soaring Spiritually, can assist our minds in acquiring a better understanding of ourselves and the world.

    Great CD. I listen to this all the time when I am writing or just in a mood for relaxation and reflection. Great classical and instrumental music and a worthwhile escape from the noise and chaos of work, traffic, kids, and that dog that keeps barking outside.

    I even fell asleep listening to it and never slept so good. I highly recommend it.

    I had never heard of Eris before either until i heard it in my snowboard video, and i have to say that wildstar is by far one of the best songs for snowboarding and life i have heard in awhile. It is such a flowful song that listening to it when riding gives you focus on clearing the tables and cliffs, great band!

    Two thumbs up. Heard this song on Stand and Deliver by Mack Dawg Productions, havnt bought the album but know Sountrack, and listened to the previews, sick band, and even more notably they're a multi-talented group of dudes. keep up the good work sirs.

    I heard one of eris's songs called soundtrack,which is my favorite song now, and I just had to have more of there music.
    I love the guitar in all there songs, and If you ask me, if you havent heard any of there songs you dont know what your missing.

    This is a great CD. Good rock sound from this band, comparable to bands like CKY, The Line, Sparta and At the Drive-In. Check this CD out, good stuff.

    This is a beautifully arranged, recorded and performed version of Haydn's work. The piece has been returned to its simple, elegent orchestral arrangement. Anything conducted by Jordi Savall is excellent and well worth the cost. ( Check out Astree ES9922, Purcell-Fantasias for the Viols) with Hesperion XX.) The packaging is also very informative and complete in English,Spanish, French and German. Highly recommended to the beginning or discriminating listener alike.
