    NIGHTMARE-"Waiting For the Twilight" is a classic mid-80's early power metal LP reminiscent of other Euro-metal greats like SORTILEGE(also from France), 220 VOLT(Sweden), GRAVESTONE(Germany), OVERDRIVE(Sweden), TRANCE(Germany), DANGER ZONE(Italy), etc. Filled with excellent guitar work and soaring high vocals, "Waiting For the Twilight" is sure to please metal fans who are constantly searching for lost classics. The production on the album is sufficient and even the limitations of the production kind of add to the strong 80's feel of the LP, making it a great example of low budget but high quality metal. Like fellow Frenchmen SORTILEGE, NIGHTMARE sang in a combination of English and French, with English dominating the vocals. Even when sung in French though, the songs are still extremely catchy. I prefer "Waiting For the Twilight" over NIGHTMARE's second LP "Power Of the Universe", although "Power Of the Universe" is also a very solid LP. In the end, NIGHTMARE is a band for TRUE heavy metal FANATICS! They will not appeal to those looking only for a commercial or popular metal approach. They are a band who will forever be a "cult" band which is a shame because in many ways NIGHTMARE(and also SORTILEGE) were more inspired and proficient than many of the generic and formulaic metal bands that came out of the US and UK in the mid-to-late 80's. If you're a metal completist or just an open-minded metal head looking for a lost 80's gem, check out NIGHTMARE. They were really good and deserved a better reputation!!! Crank it up, smoke a bowl, and bang your head!!!
