Product Description
MATRAZ is the name of a current Chilean Progressive rock band, led by the divine female singer Loreto CHAPARRO. As skilful in ethereal passages as in epic stampedes, she actually leads the music with a voice that can remind of that of Mariela GONZALEZ (NEXUS). After a promising first album ("Tiempo") released in 1999 on the Mylodon label, the five musicians clearly affirm their ambitions with today's follow-up. "Gritare" (2004) is an album which is dominated by two opposed tendencies that were brilliantly put together here: the symphonic Progressive rock that is so dear to the South-American connoisseurs and the complex DREAM THEATER-like heavy-metal music. The first tendency is especially affirmed by Diego ABURTO's keyboards, which are particularly featured during piano parts. The guitarist Claudio CORDERO plays in turn powerful and cutting riffs that don't leave the slightest ambiguity ! Some jazzy breaths also appear for good measure. It is noteworthy that this album ends with a superb nearly 20 minute-long epic. Don't miss it, on no account whatsoever !
