How does one pay 13.99 for is what is billed as an audio CD and have the entire CD consist of 3 tracks. Suffice to say, I will never buy another Amy Winehouse recording.

5 out of 5 stars Glad I bought it!.......2007-05-23

I didn't know too much about Amy Winehouse other than the fact she's very cute...she has more than little substance behind the looks. Her style is artistically ballsy with a "full,Soulful" voice. Such a different sound than what's going on today in music and i like it...a lot! Some of her lyrics are almost haunting and a bit guilty at times with her ode to a past love who belongs to another#4 Back to Black...#8"Wake up alone" was very vivid to me like i could hear the pain in her voice...that's what i love about this album...i can really feel her lyrics...she has an influence from a lil Prince(whom she has shared a stage with,as the purple one is apparantly a bit intrigued by her), a lil "Etta James gone bad" and a bit of ska with a twist of "Pink" all equals a new sound that i really enjoyed. I can hear the 70's soul in her voice that kinda takes me back a bit... it's very hard for me to pick a favorite as she had me from the start of the CD with "Rehab"and kept me all the way through...my favorites include #2"You know that i'm no good"and i really love the 70's sound of #7 "Tears dry on their own"( Iteresting to know that Ashford & Simpson co-wrote this song because i swear i can hear "ain't no moutain high enough")...if you're looking for something different then give this one a shot...i don't think u will be dissappointed. I love this "TRAIN WRECK" of a dame with more balls than most male artists...Prince got similar reviews earlier in his career about his edgyness, sexuality in his lyrics and just plain being outspoken in a world where it wasn't too cool to be that way...i hope she has a similar path to what can truly be a great career...if the "train" doesn't wreck before. I LOVE THIS ALBUM...not because every else is talking about her but because it's just ...well...good.

Do not order this until you confirm with seller what you are getting. Many sellers are actually selling the Jewel-Case version as opposed to wood one featured! I got ripped off that way.

Music is okay, Bliss is a great song, live album is very good, not Tori's best work otherwise, kind of slow and laborious.

    1 out of 5 stars LIES!.......2005-04-02

This album is great, too bad this seller is a fraud and has to deface the preciousness of Tori & this album. It was a huge pain dealing with a refund from this place. I am not even sure if I ever got a full refund? Nonetheless, DON'T ORDER FROM THEM. Just get the domestic release and hope someday you will run across the Limited Edition fraudulently listed here.

    5 out of 5 stars A unique release of a stellar CD........2005-01-16

Quite simply, an otherwordly double CD experience. The first disc finds Amos furthering her musical experimentations. This CD marks the first time she recorded with her touring band of Matt Chamberlain on drums, Jon Evans on bass, and long-time collaborator Steve Caton on guitar. Amos not only continues her instrumentation experimentation, but also delves further than her previous effort's, "from the choirgirl hotel," electronic tinkerings. Relying this time on her piano, keyboards, band, and computer technology, Amos weaves her intricate musical world together with the same mysticism and soul as all her previous efforts. Highlights from disc one include "Bliss," "concertina," "glory of the 80's," and "Josephine." Disc two gives the fans what they had been longing for: her first ever live album. The disc contains many of Amos's concert standards and hits spanning her solo career. Recorded during her concert tour in 1998, the first tour with a full band, Amos showcases her many talents and passion for music. This generous helping of Amos live closes out an intergalactic journey into the heart and mind of a truly complex musician. Highlights on the second disc include "Precious Things," "Cooling," "Sugar," and "Waitress." This limited edition of the set comes in a wooden box with an etched portrait of the songstress.

    4 out of 5 stars Strange.......2004-09-26

Tori Amos can never be accused of conforming to common marketed pop standards, and we can take that as a good sign. Known for her eccentricity, she doesn't let it drop here.

This album combines the piano of her earlier works with the electronica featured later in "Strange Little Girls", for example. However, unlike "Strange Little Girls", here Amos has written and produced all of the songs.

The opening track of every album should be the hook, and "Bliss" is just that. A good piano track with lyrics aimed towards a father, it builds and falls, and is overall well done.

"Concertina" has a light, lovely piano tune, which is fun to sing, and it's not heavy or dark. "Josephine" is set in wartime, mentioning various locations, and is sweet and also light. "Spring Haze" is a dreamy little number, keeping the piano in good form, with a lovely bit just following the chorus.

"Lust" gives off the impression of walking into the unknown, with a mellow melody, gently rolling. "Suede" is a somewhat strange track, that makes the listener feel sort of powerful, and it gives off a mysterious atmosphere. And "Riot Poof" is an example of a good kind of electronica, but it's a song that's a bit hard to describe, though it's good to listen to, particularly when walking or in a moving vehicle.

There are a number of very good tracks here, though some are forgettable, and some combine both. An example of a mix is "Dãtura". I like the piano, but I reckon the song should've ended after about three and a half minutes. There're about five minutes following that that are really just repeating the words "dividing Canaan", and the piano isn't there, but rather just electronica.

The "out of 10 mark" was based only on Disc 1. Disc 2 didn't really need to be there, as it consisted of all live tracks, most of them found on other albums, with the remainders being ones specially performed for concerts or B-sides.

Tori Amos consistently produces non-mainstream albums that bring the listener into an unreal world, and is never short of creativity. But sometimes one just has to wonder, "What is she on?"

4 out of 5 stars Gonna to be a rock star.......2006-06-08

I owned Go for Broke first and this is not a carbon copy. Real talent does not rip off or re-hash existing sounds, riffs, melodies, and such. The variety of the sounds we get on this second album tells me that this guy's got some talent..

First of all this is more a 2k rock album and there seems to be less hip hop. GFB leaned heavily on a hip hop lyric delivery and had a more of a hip-hop theme to it. Kazzer's delivery here has a bit more "in your face" and the guitar riffs feel heaver, more pronounced, and tighter. There are some good guitar solos that are not on his first album.

Kazzer's vocal delivery is also more in line with what we're hearing on the radio today without the sticky sweet commercialism and without the ranting drone.

Most of the tracks are solid rock tunes. The ballads (if you can call them ballads) have a unique grooving quality that keeps them crossing over to cliche'.

You can tell this is a second album on a few of fronts. It's more polished, a bit tighter, certainly more mainstream (or maybe less cross over). If he keeps it up, and has a good promoter, he will no doubt see greater commercial success.

5 out of 5 stars Why hasn't anybody heard of this guy yet?.......2005-11-29

I've been watching the Speed channel's Sports Car Revolution for a few seasons, always loved their theme songs, "Fueled by Adrenaline" and "Pedal to the Metal" but just recently realized that Kazzer was not only a co-host on the show, but he is a rock star. I decided to take a chance on this one and I'm glad I did. Good stuff. So good that I immediatley bought his debut CD "Going for Broke" as well, though I'm slightly dissapointed with that one.

Excellent CD. Great compilation of music. Used for a four hour drive, and it made the travel that much more pleasant. It's just right in tempo and energy.

This volume is getting harder and harder to find, which is unfortunate, because it is loaded with big tracks that are hard to get on CD. Get it while you still can. Unlike some volumes of Hed Kandi, none of the tracks sound like they were mastered from vinyl--I sometimes hear pops from the records on this series. Track times:

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing After Volume 1.......2001-05-26

I was not clubbing at the time these songs made their grade, so I do not have a context to put them against, but when I heard Back to Love Volume 1, it made my heart race, my face smile, and my feet move - over and over. So it was with much anticipation that I went out and bought Vol II the day it was released. Upon further listening, I have come to appreciate it, but it does not have the sparkle, charm, or magic of Vol I. These songs just do not seem to be composed as well as the ones on the previous album. BTW, I am a big fan of Hed Kandi and Mark Doyle (Deeper!, Serve Chilled!, Beach House!!), but am not a big fan of the other Disco Kandi series. So if you like the Disco Kandi series, you may like this album (Back to Love II).

5 out of 5 stars Dance music nostalgia doesn't come any better than this............2000-10-31

Hed Kandi has done it again - Respect then, to Mark Doyle for this latest addition to the very wonderful Hed Kandi compilation series.

Back to Love - the first compilation of massive tunes to encapsulate the 'spirit of '89' was superb, and if you don't already have it in your collection, then its a must buy.

Back to Love 2 follows the first installment by again tapping into a rich musical vein.

What do you get for your money? Two more discs of wonderful tracks that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and (hopefully) take you back to some amazing times from the past... :-)

Disc 1 contains such wonders as Kariya - Let me Love you for Tonight, Ce Ce Rogers - Someday, and other tracks with huge piano intros that have frankly, never been surpassed - Degrees of Motion and Rhythim is Rhythim to name but two.

Disc 2 celebrates Classic Disco with one of my all time favourite tracks by First Choice - Let No Man Put Asunder, Rare Groove, Hip-Hop and Classic Soul (Archie & The Drells - Don't let Love get you down).

If you were clubbing at the time these tracks were first released, then this compilation will take you straight back, with a smile. If you're a little younger, then I still urge you to buy this CD and listen to some of the most memorable and defining musical moments of the dance generation.

Back to Love 2 is, without question, the best Hed Kandi release so far from a selection that has been consistently of top quality.

        Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Lanza in (mostly) top form.......2004-11-28

This is a "twofer" CD, consisting of the 1955 soundtrack to the movie Serenade and the 1956 Cavalcade of Show Tunes album. Before I go any further, however, I should acknowledge that I was one of the liner note writers for this release. But I have no financial interest in the CD, and am simply reviewing it here because to date no one else has commented on it!

Serenade marked Lanza's return to films after an absence of three years, and revealed a voice that had darkened considerably, while still retaining its brilliant upper register. Stylistically, this is also a much-improved artist in many respects from the sometimes-wayward tenor of the early 1950s. Anyone who compares Lanza's superbly operatic renditions here of Amor Ti Vieta, Lamento di Federico, and O Paradiso with his earlier versions (all featured on the CD Mario Lanza Sings Opera Arias and Duets) will immediately detect the new-found control in his singing.

That's not to say that all of the Serenade material is outstanding. Lanza's renditions of Nessun Dorma, O Soave Fanciulla, Di Quella Pira, and the title song are below par, with the tenor uncharacteristically strained in the upper register and rough in his approach. But redeeming everything are the oustanding renditions of the arias mentioned in the previous paragraph, together with Lanza's sensitive singing of Di Rigori Armato from Der Rosenkavalier, a superb Torna a Surriento, and an unsurpassed Dio! Mi Potevi Scagliar from Otello. Lanza also recorded the Act III duet from Otello with Licia Albanese for this film, but time constraints have reduced it to a brief extract here. (The entire duet, however, can be heard on the aforementioned Arias & Duets CD.)

The other album featured here showcases the romantic side of Lanza. Beautifully recorded, Cavalcade includes passionate renditions of Yours is My Heart Alone, Only a Rose, Will You Remember, and other selections from operetta and musical comedy. Although Lanza may indeed be *too* zestful here for some tastes, vocally at least, he is at the height of his powers. The voice is rich and round - gloriously consistent throughout its registers - and the abundance of effortless B flats, Bs, and even a high C reveal a tenor in formidable form.

        Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars The original, the best.......2005-06-01

This is the ultra rare first edition of BACK TO LOVE from Hed Kandi! Good luck finding this one..although it is worth the effort. It can get pricey but this is the best compilation in the BACK TO LOVE series. Some classic 80s and early 90s jams you may have forgotten. This cd will put a smile on your face. Highlights include Zoe "Sunshine on A Rainy Day", Gwen McCrae "All This Love That I'm Giving", Sounds of Blackness "Optimistic", Brand New Heavies "Back To Love", and more.

4 out of 5 stars a good mix of old beats.......2001-12-09

I liked the first CD more because there are alot of songs on that one that I am familiar with such as jomanda, ten city, frankie knuckles, etc. I suggest it as a good way to revisit some classics that would make you shake at 5am. The 2nd CD is OK but did not hit me as hard as the 1st, I thought the Lisa Lisa song was gonna be the club mix that I was familiar with, so I was disappointed about that. This is my first Hed Kandi experience, I will try the others...

It'll bring back the good ole days when House Music was just a baby on tracks like Ten City's "That's the Way Love Is." A must-have for dance music afficianados!
