4 out of 5 stars Good but not their best........2006-07-03

All of Motorpsychos albums are worth buying but among the albums from the 90s I would rather recomend "Angels and Daemons At Play". Personly I prefer the two more "poppy / jazzy" albums that were released early this millenium.

5 out of 5 stars Best band ever.......2006-04-11

This is probably one of the greatest record released by an european band in the '90s. Lovers of bands like Broken Social Scene and Built To Spill for instance, should check this out immediatly. Try downloading tracks like "Sinful, Windborne", "The Nerve Tattoo" and "S.T.G", and I guarantee you'll end up buying all their albums.

5 out of 5 stars A place to start.......2001-12-13

To explore Motorpsycho - doubtless one of the most challenging, innovative rock bands still active - it is not only advisable to start with Blissard, their most accessible album to date. It might even be a necessity if one wants get to grips with the bands formidable, fantastic and ferocious work. Placed somewhere between kraut-rock, progressive rock, jazz avantgardism and power pop, the Norwegian sometime-quartet, sometime-trio has stunned an European audience starved for intelligent music - yet they remain relatively unknown outside their hardcore audience.

If more people had a taste of "Blissard", that could change. With absolute showstoppers such as "Nerve Tattoo", but also including more esoteric compositions such as "Nathan Daniel's Tune From Hawaii" (!) and "S.T.G.", this is both an album to sing along to and an album fairly representative of the band. Start here - and you won't stop until most of the Motorpsycho albums stand firmly on your livingroom shelf. Take it from one who's tried.

4 out of 5 stars Brilliant Motorpsycho again.......1999-11-09

Motorpsycho have again delivered a demanding and good album. MP are one of the most experimental and interesting bands that are around. Greener is an instant classic.

4 out of 5 stars Beauty and noise perfectly blended once again.......1999-10-24

I'm not sure if I have ever heard anything as good as the first four or five songs on Motorpsycho's Blissard. Sweet and funny pop melodies covered in experimental mud and noise as only Motorpsycho can do it. The rest of the album is brilliant as well, although it can't compete with the opening section. "Drug thing" and Greener are rock anthems that could be compared to any other song of the nineties. It doesn't matter if you're into rock or pop or even easy listening, this album covers it all and will give you what you need.

4 out of 5 stars Not their best, but don't miss it.......1999-09-15

As a semi-fanatic, long-time fan of Motorpsycho, I have to say that I think this might be one of their weakest releases so far. But it still kicks butt and they're still one of the best bands of the 90's. Too bad most of you yanks out there are gonna miss out....

4 out of 5 stars Combinations of noise, turning out to be relaxing...........1999-04-06

Blissard is a "four star" record( I never give five stars unless the band gives me a ton of money....) full of noise, loud guitarplaying, wonderful moods and extremely beautiful rainy-day songs. This record is a product of great sounds by the norwegian superliveband Motorpsycho. Some of the songs are totally chilled down, and allow you to sit and look out of the window whilst thinking of the woman/man in your dreams, as you hardly notice what is going around you, because you are trapped in the beautiful rusty voice of the vocalist. The more loud parts of the record will give you a peace of mind never before experienced, as Motorpsycho give you noise that are combined in swirling spirals up to a climax, and then, as you are trapped, they give you a little bit more. And there, you can not help it, you are addicted to Motorpsycho. The problem about Motorpsycho is that they will never go commercial, and sell a bunch of records. They like playing music for crowds who have discovered their music, not people who listen to whatever is on the radio.... I tell you, listen to this record and you will be present at their next consert. They're even better live.

4 out of 5 stars The best Band you never heard of.......1999-03-23

Take Led Zeppelin, add some Sonic Youth, some perfect pop and you've got a great album that covers a lot of ground - fantastic ecstatic guitars, and a modern fresh sound that makes the whole album exciting. Only motorpsycho could put on a record the melodic soft lullaby "Nathaniel's tune from Hawaii" Too bad mpsycho seems happy with their limited commercial success - such music is too good to remain unknown. Go see them live if you can: they played the US at SXSW in Austin, TX and blew everyone away (the audience, as well as all other bands who played a gig). Get a hand on "Timothy's Monster", on "Angels and Deamons at Play" and on their latest "Trust US". You will send me an email and thank me for it...
