4 out of 5 stars Oh! What a sound!.......2007-03-24

The chance to hear "Neither One of Us", "Oh! What A Love I Have Found" and "All I Need Is Time" on CD is worth the long wait for these tracks to come out (although "Neither One Of Us" has been available on CD). These three tracks were produced by Joe Porter and primarily arranged by the most wonderful Artie Butler, with "Neither One Of Us" being a big hit in the early 70's. Yes, these tracks were not the typical "sound" usually associated with the group and it might have been a gamble on both Motown and producer Joe Porter's part. But working with songwriters Jim Weatherly and Bud Reneau paid off with music that takes the group in a different direction and give the magical voice of Ms. Knight a chance to shine in arrangements that truly capture her one of a kind sound. I wonder who suggested to the group to record this music? And, what was the reaction of the powers at Motown to these very special songs? Since "Neither One Of Us" came first, they probably tried to repeat that success with the two Bud Reneau songs. They also cover Sly and the Family Stone and work with Paul Riser, David Van DePitte and H. B. Barnum, all professional hitmakers at Motown. Oh! What a sound, indeed.

    5 out of 5 stars Gothenberg revived.......2007-03-22

While I'm not sure exactly where these guys are from, I assume its scandinavia somewhere, I should do my research, but I'm only interested in the music, they certainly sound like the Gothenberg scene, but have an energy that most of the late nineties bands have sadly lost. While I like the new In flames and Katatonia, etc albums, they dont have what their early albums had. This band looks to be a bunch of young blokes starting out fresh, and they certainly sound that way. Out of the twelve tracks, six are really good, heavy ,rocking tracks, although slower than some may like, the others are all O.K. If you dont know what they sound like ,it is similar to Inflames or soilwork, yet has its own musical style, it has some keyboard backing, and the vocals sound a bit more metalcore in style, with some clean vocals. The only downside is the price of this CD, but theres enough quality tracks to make it worth buying.

    2 out of 5 stars eh?.......2006-09-28

I was always a huge fan of norther and this album they took a couple steps down.....I liked this the first time i heard it, and then i didn't hear any cool melodies and solos of the past, they are completley changed with crappy vocals and lyrics now.. dont buy this, Stick with Mirror of Madness or Dreams of endless war, even death unlimited is way better then this Album. Dissapointed...

5 out of 5 stars A Change In Color And Sound.......2006-05-08

Ho damn, no one has even looked at this page yet. It's sad I'm the first one to review this.

Ever since hitting the scene back in 2002, Norther has kept their momentum rolling. All their albums and singles have graced the charts (In Europe). However, they have never erupted passed north European territory. Touring commitments have never been much of a commitment, except mostly local half-drunken gigs. Their music has been aggressive since day one, but not without melodies hand in hand. While Bodom changed their sound (which led to a not-so-stellar release), Norther changed their album tone from arctic, cold, and blue to fire, red, and death.
The album fires plenty of melodic and heavy riffing, fast rhythms with improved vocals, catchy dual lead melodies, and charging virtuosic solos. The musical relationship between Lindroos and Ranta, with their sharpened axes, has never been better. The keyboards keep on experimenting with small details while also adding that signature Norther atmosphere no band can touch.

Rising up to the challenge, lead guitarist Kristian Ranta lends his pure voice to three songs: "Omen", "Alone In The End", and "Wasted Years". Three out of twelve isn't much, and for those who enjoy it, they may feel like one or two more songs with Kride's vocals wouldn't hurt. Due to the extreme and fast nature of the material, the clean singing is not forced into every track, which is a smart move. With his vocals fused into these songs, the rest of the group ultimately have to keep a slower pace because Ranta's voice isn't able to keep up with the ensuing shredding. I don't resent them, but apparently there's more work to be done before they should be exposed in greater contexts. This isn't to say that Kride doesn't have a good voice, but compared to four years of Petri fronting, it comes out experimental.

Norther may have some of the worst song titles and generic lyrics on the face of this planet, but they are a prime example of thrilling Finnish Melodic Death Metal. They still reign high with their cousins Children Of Bodom and 2nd cousins Amorphis, so there's a good chance -Till Death Unites Us- will attract new fans and not lose dedicated followers in the process.

4 out of 5 stars Not the Slayer of old, not a bad thing, either.......2007-05-06

Why the review so late into the game? I was just listening to Slayer for the first time in a few months. I'm tired of everyone wanting "Reign in Blood" versions III IV and eventually V. I mean, come on, you don't think a band matures and moves on from playing 100 miles per hour?

Yes, I agree, that the same lyrics are getting OLD...hence the 4 star rating. The music is still top-notch and the aggression is still there, no matter what anyone THINKS they know about the band.

I bought the $28 import version and was glad I did. Yes, I know you can get the two other songs on the recently released box set, but they flow better in this album. It is well worth the extra $15 and then some. I still have yet to watch the videos or anything, I only care about the music.

My all-time favorite song by Slayer is on here: "Here Comes the Pain". Definitely destined to be a classic.

5 out of 5 stars Still Slayer, Still relevant........2007-03-24

This CD is the one that proves that Slayer is still relevant in a year of awful bands, and mediocre albums.
Yes, this sound and style is different as compared to their other CDs like Reign in blood, and Seasons in the abyss, but like all of their albums, they prove that still deliver, plain and simple.
Over the years, Slayer has never tried to re-create a certain style. Each album is it's own entity, as it should be. But each album has that Slayer sound, a sound that is very distinct, no matter what twist is added.
The downtuning is a first for Slayer as heard in "Cast Down", "Seven Faces", "Here comes the pain" and "Payback". But those tracks are still brutal, loud, and fast. There is no standard tuning like the previous albums. Even "Diablos" has one or two songs that are the usual tuning for Slayer.
In some ways, the CD itself is somewhat of a letdown, some of the tracks aren't that great, but the other tracks make up for it by grabbing you by the throat, and throttling you with it's intensity.
But no matter how you look at it, this is a really good CD, especially when heard from beginning to end. Slayers has proven that you do not need to radically change to be relevant. Just a little tweaking here and there.
No matter how you look at it, it's still SLAYER!

    5 out of 5 stars F*%$!ng HOSTILE!.......2006-03-29

If You're a fan of the classic Slayer albums, then you probably won't be able to appreciate this album to the extent that you should. Of the hundreds of CDs that I own, this is the one album that I never get tired of hearing. I bought it the day it was released, and have not stopped listening to it since. Tracks like "disciple" and "payback" are heavy enough to give you enough aggression to slap your mother in the face. Flat out, this is one of the best albums you will find to date!!!! BUY IT NOW!!!

5 out of 5 stars Slayer still slaying!!.......2005-01-13

No, it's not the Slayer of the late 80s, but that doesn't matter because 'God Hates Us All' is nothing but "in your face, eardrum bursting" metal! This album does carry a modern sound, but this is the kind of album that needs to be full blasted on your stereo to truly be appreciated. I don't understand why people cry about bands like Slayer evolving, because most of the time they get better this way; & 'God Hates Us All' is a true example of that!

5 out of 5 stars Don't listen to the nay-sayers!.......2004-10-16

This album rocks! If you think this is terrible, then you've got a lot more bands to listen to in order to hear the TRUE meaning of the word horrible! Now onto the album: It rules! It sure beats the crap out of Metallica's new album! Best songs are:
    Disciple
    Here Comes the Pain
    God Send Death

It's all The Things she said - Don't Trust, Don't Fear - They're Not Gonna Get Us!
This UK [IMPORT] CD is one I own, and I bought at ASDA for one penny (NI PROSI! DON'T ASK) and I find this CD very appealing, and I'm going to tell you why...

NOT GONNA GET US (RADIO EDITED)
This is basically the same as Not Gonna Get Us but with some seconds knocked off. Not Gonna Get Us is a catchy, upbeat, rocking song that really relates to the video (They run around Moscow in a gigantic green truck and run over their director/manager Ivan Shapovalov in the interesting version, and just run around Moscow in the boring version shown in the UK), but I lke the original version better, available on 200km/H in the Wrong Lane.

    NE VER, NE BOISIA
An awesome track with a very hard catchy tune. It actually rubs off slightly grungy when you think about it. I love it though...It's my fave track on this disc cos it just sounds so cool. The Russian vocals are awesome, no wonder it did so well in the Eurovision!

ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID (RUNNING AND SPINNING MIX)
This is such a techno remix of the "All The Things She Said" smash hit that was #1 in the UK. I love this track, but first time I heard it I skipped it after 4 minutes. It is boring, but I think if you listen to it enough, some drug (not literally!) gets into your ears, making you immune to the bordem, and you see the awesome side of this cool track!

I rated this CD 4 stars, because I think this CD is useless now cos I have:

4 out of 5 stars More Of The Title Track, Please. (again).......2003-06-22

With several editions of 'Not Gonna Get Us' this one I have to say, is one of the better ones because it provides us with a new song not available on the standard editions of the album, as well as a rare remix of ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID. However, it does have one fault in that it lacks remixes of the title track.

The single starts off with the radio version of the title track, 'Not Gonna Get Us' which is a big beat dance/techno pop song with power, and let's say 'fun.' If you're a fan by now looking for singles, then you must have heard this plenty of times. For newcomers, it's a fun song, although I would prefer the album version which contains the powerful, danceable drum solo at the end.

The second track is the new song, 'Ne Ver Ne Bosia', this song was performed for the Eurovision 2003 contest, which tATu came into third at the end of the contest. It's a good song, danceable, but only available in Russian. However, don't let that deter you from checking out this song. I believe this song will be included on their second album.

The third song is the ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID Running & Spinning Mix, which is similar to Britney Spear's Anticipating PKCHU & RLS Hard & Sexy Vocal Mix, in terms of the style of remix. It's purely a dance floor filler, and has repeating vocals like the HarDrum remix of ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID. A very good dance track, although I'm sure many mainstream listeners would be bored.

The video is also included on here, but speaking for fans, we've seen it already. For newcomers, enjoy.

As stated before, this single is seriously lacking remixes for the title track. From checking with Amazon.com and other places, I haven't seen one single except the Holland Edition with a remix for 'Not Gonna Get Us.' Although the song is already a good dance song, that shouldn't be an excuse not to include some remixes for the song.

Worth the purchase if you like all the songs featured, but I would stay away if you prefer originals. I mean afterall 'Not Gonna Get Us' is already featured on the debut album and Ne Ver Ne Bosia should be included on the new album.

5 out of 5 stars They're Not Gonna Get Us.......2004-02-22

After the worldwide success of "All the Things She Said", t.A.T.u. decided to release a 2nd single with less reassurance, and I like it. While "All the Things She Said" was a love story where neither girl was quite sure of herself or her love, "Not Gonna Get Us" is about nothing but unconditional love and escaping the world around them.

1// "Not Gonna Get Us"- This is much like the NGGU on 200 km/h, but certain parts are connected and shortened. It is really good if you are in a hurry and don't have time to listen to a 4 minute+ song.

2// "Not Gonna Get Us 119 Vocal edit"- Superb. There is a great amount of emotion shouting from this music. This is the song at its most dramatic.

3// "All the Things She Said DJ Monk After School Special"- I don't know what to say. It sort of grows on you and starts out fun, but "I've Lost My Mind" and the same annoying beat are played throughout the song. It can be fun when you have absolutely nothing else to do.

4// "All the Things She Said BlackPulke Remix"- The first time I heard it, I hated it, but it slowly grew on me. The orgasms in the middle are a little much, and I don't believe that that or the "yeah" are either of the girls. This remix takes the depression out of "All the Things She Said" and makes into a fun jazzy song.

5// "Not Gonna Get Us video"- A nice video. Not the best t.A.T.u. video, but it's still fun to watch the girls climb atop the truck and such. I especially like the glass-breaking effect.

5 out of 5 stars Its still hardcore dance.......2003-12-27

Tatu's "Not Gonna Get Us" is still hardcore dance for all its mainstream pop idol appeal and many trance and dance fans will not lower their opinion of this track because it is solid techno crossed with the vocals of Tatu.

5 out of 5 stars Language doesnt matter.......2003-12-16

I can understand both russian and english, so i really get the best of both worlds with this group.

The cool thing about thier music, is even if you cant understand the russian version of the songs, they still sound great.

Ive been listening to this group since 2000, when there werent even big in russia.

5 out of 5 stars More of the title track, please........2003-06-03

While many t.A.T.u fans have been captivated by their world wide hit single 'All The Things She Said' I believe it's time to move onto. So what could t.A.T.u possibly have in store for us next? Will it live up to the first single? We'll see.

    Radio Version:

The single starts off with the edit of the original version. It's a bit shorter than the album version, however, it shouldn't really make a difference to most people. Unlike you like the drum solo at the end, like I do.

Dave Aude's Extension 119 Vocal Edit

Dave Aude is the guy behind the extension remixes for the debut single, and here he comes again remixing the next single for t.A.T.u. This remix is good if not better than the remix for All The Things She Said. While many remix fans tend to like different sounding remixes, Dave Aude stuck more closely to the original and keep it's techno beat going on. A good remix, unfortunately it's presented only in edit form and not in extended version which I thought should be including in any decent single.

All The Things She Said 'DJ MONK after skool special'

With only two versions of the title track, we're presented with bonus remixes of the debut single. This track is basically a dance instrumental track that I'm sure most people wouldn't enjoy unless that person likes house music. The music sounds good however, it does not feature all the vocals. In fact, only 'I've Lost My Mind' is repeated throughout the song. Kinda boring, but fun at the same time.

All The Things She Said 'BLACKPULKE Mix'

This mix is interesting, but certainly not the best. Best avoidable because of it's moaning and groaning during one part of the song, that's reminiscent to a pornographic movie. It has an electro clash type of music, either fast nor slow. But somewhat danceable.

    Not Gonna Get Us 'VIDEO'

Like many t.A.T.u Cds, it has a music video included for 'Not Gonna Get Us.' I like this addition because it makes the single worthwhile. A great music video, very different from 'All The Things She Said.'

Overall, I feel this CD is only for hardcore fans. Casual fans and the like, should keep away from singles and just enjoy their full lenght album '200 KM/H IN THE WRONG LANE.'

Remix lovers are advised to purchase the single if you like the songs enough, but I feel there should have been more remixes for the title track instead of two remixes of the previous single.

5 out of 5 stars they are no- one hit wonders!!!.......2003-05-19

4 out of 5 stars It is that song.......2001-11-06

It is the song you remember. The one with that chorus. A great love song and a true classic. Unfortunately the rest of the album isn't as great, but that particular track is good enough to defend buying it.
Talking about old soul/r'n'b-classics...when will Motown give us the old Smokey Robinson albums (of the late seventies and early eighties) on CD? I am looking for "Essar" from 1983 (wasn't it?), but it doesn't exist...

THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT I'M NOT SURE THAT IT'S THE RIGHT SONG I LIKE. HOWEVER, THE SONG HAS THE RIGHT TITLE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THE SONG HAS THESE LYRICS, "SOME PEOPLE ARE MADE FOR EACHOTHER, SOME PEOPLE CAN LOVE ONE ANOTHER FOR LIFE HOW ABOUT US" SOME PEOPLE CAN MAKE IT TOGETHER IN STRONG KIND OF WEATHER CAN WE". I THOUGHT IT WAS A COUPLE BUT I'M SURE.

4 out of 5 stars No this is not THAT Nirvana...........2007-05-24

This Nirvana is the UK band from the mid-to-late 60's who embodied, to their core, what became known as the "toytown baroque" style of music. A cellist was a permanent member of the band, which gives you the general idea. Delicate fare to be sure, but much of what was contained in toytown was core psychedelia. Listen, for example to the swirling echo chamber sounds of "Rainbow Chaser." In original release, this was one of those thick vinyl deep wax pink label Island LP's that seemed almost impossible to scratch. It was also pretty much impossible to figure out at the time if the name of the band was "All of Us" and the title was "Nirvana" or vice versa. For the musically adventurous, the mystery added to its marketability. Thank God today we have liner notes to help us out with that. While naturally the stylings are dated today, many of the songs such as "Rainbow Chaser" and "Melanie Blue" hold their charm, and the bonus tracks are non-LP additions that definitely contribute to the value of the CD.

5 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece Finally Given It's Time In A New Island Release.......2006-06-14

FIRST OFF: Fans and reviewers of the 90's Kurt Cobain Nirvana please post elsewhere and keep your ignorant, narrow-minded comments away from these half dozen or so album listings from this 60's UK pop/psych group. Why comment here when these are two distinctly different groups, era and genre of music. I'm not surprised that fans of Kurt Cobain's Nirvana would put their ignorant 2 cents in. Also, there is a reason these CD's are unfamiliar to you grunge rock fans. Think of it this way, it's not cool to trash a group that was around when Kurt and the boys were still poopin' in their diapers. Perhaps when your music awareness evolves, you may appreciate the UK Nirvana just the same. I enjoy both Nirvana respectively and separately and identify the two groups together only for the purpose of writing this review. Please note that I am NOT comparing the two, for comparisons are a waste of time and mental energy. The musical integrity that the UK Nirvana possesses is most evident in this, their 1968 2nd album "All Of Us". An eclectic mix of classical arrangements, pop theatrical sensibility with surreal and imaginative lyrics that fit in nicely with the psychedelia of the time. Consider it "intelligent sunshine pop" that only the British 60's groups can execute with such uniqueness. The standout tracks are: Rainbow Chaser, Tiny Goddess, The Touchables (All Of Us), Melanie Blue, Trapeze and Girl In The Park. Well, basically the first 7 tracks of the album. This import Island remaster version comes complete with a 15 page booklet chock full o' informative notes on the band history and rare photos from the 66-68' Nirvana era. The sound is excellent, however it is a bit compressed and I believe they could have done a better job with the remastering, definitely. A bit disappointed, but nevertheless still worthy of a purchase if you're a collector or a casual listener just discovering this UK group.

    5 out of 5 stars Not Kirt Cobain's Nirvana.......2004-04-13

For any confused, this is not the Nineties band, Nirvana, but rather the Sixties psych-pop group, so don't expect anything to sound like "Lithium" or "Teen Spirit" here. This is a fine and classic album, with the extra b-sides being a nice added bonus.
