5 out of 5 stars Excellent, but Expensive Addition to the Collection.......2004-11-30

This is classic MFATGG - tight, fast and fun. The cost of the import is a bit high, but truly worth it. My favorite track include 'The Boxer', "Dont Let the Sun Go Down on Me', and 'Blowin in the Wind'. Again, the sticker price is a bit high, but worth it.

As for the 'review' from 'RedheadedSomething'.... if you do not own it or have listened to it, how can you review it? Go play some video games in your mom's basement and listen to Britney.

1 out of 5 stars This costs way too much........2003-09-17

This cd is so expensive compared to the others, there is no point in buying this one. No I haven't heard this one yet but their other cd's are much cheaper and have to be at least as good as this one if not better.

5 out of 5 stars The Gimme Gimmes are Evil Geniuses.......2003-07-11

Don't just take my word for it. Go. Listen. If you don't do it here, do it somewhere. They've got a web site you can Google up, but trust me, this is Punk even your mom can enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars Turn japanese.......2001-07-02

This EP kick a**... It have 3 song from others MFATGG EPs, 1 song from new album, Blown In The Wind, and 1 previously unreleased song, Times They Are A-Changin, a Bob Dylan cover!! All the 5 songs show the energy of the MFATGG, and the best song for me is Blowin In The Wind...

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Heartbreak, Redemption and Triumph in Melodic Bliss.......2005-07-08

It's a sin this album wasn't domestically released in the US as it's only available as an import which tend to be a bit $$. I took a risk and bought it anyway and I have to say I am very satisfied.

It's so much better than Daniel's first album, which I really liked! This release is more mature and well thought-out. Sonically, there's really nothing new in this album, but there is definitely more crooning. The lyrics do tell a story for a change and Daniel sounds so real, especially in "Sorry", which is about his sister.

If I have to pick up favorites, they'll be: Holiness, Show me the real you, Sorry, The Way, Don't give'r it all, and Growing up. I am still listening to it nonstop at work, in the car, at home, at the gym,...etc. It's that good :-)

I cannot recommend this album enough. Like most solo British artists, Daniel Bedingfield is extremely underrated and underexposed here in America. I can't believe his songs aren't playing on the radio instead of that hackneyed music we're all sick and tired of.

4 out of 5 stars A very touching well thoughtout album.......2005-05-19

I was a Bedingfield fan instantly when I heard his first CD. Now finally getting my hands on his second CD, I was unsure since I had to have it imported but it was worth it! He's changed a lot in the years since he wrote his previous album. The album is extremely personal, it talks about life, love, and dealing with a near death experience. His words are selected carefully and specifically. He is mastering his craft. Nothing is an accident. I absolutely love some of the songs...especially "Sorry" and "All the Little Children", and "Draw You".
Now as for why I gave it four stars and not five, simply because I loved his dance tracks on his first CD, those aren't really here. But his other songs make up for it!

5 out of 5 stars LOVE THE NEW CD.......2005-03-28

love the cd, much much better than the first one.
I'm also going to rate the song by 10 the best song

growing up 10/10 good song

complicated 10/10 reggae sound love it love the voice

wrap my words around you 8/10 okay song

all your attention 10/10 one of my favorite song, the chorus is great, very emotional melodies

way 9/10 poppy sound, its good

sorry 10/10 love the song, it was dedicated to his sister

show me the real you 7/10 not my fave song

don't give it all 5/10 no comment

nothing hurts like love 10/10 also my fave, very powerful, love the lyrics

holiness 10/10 you could listen to this song everyday and you don't get sick of it,

all the little children = he has similar song on his first cd title honest question, its only him and the piano

all in all beatiful cd better than the first

4 out of 5 stars Great vocals, some songs lacking.......2005-02-24

I adore Daniel Bedingfield and loved his last album. His second attempt is just as good as the first. Daniel lovers will not be disappointed. I occasionally found the lyrics cheesy on a few tracks, but Daniel's voice and songwriting skills are sharp as ever. I'd recommend the album to any lover of pop or Brit pop music.

It's just too bad more people in the US do not appreciate his talent! If I want to see him in concert this year, I'll have to travel to another continent!

Also, if you like Daniel, his sister Natasha's CD is excellent too. It's another import but worth the extra cost.

3 out of 5 stars Awesome, but not really the best album I've had........2004-12-21

I like Daniel Bedingfield since I've heard Gotta Get Thru This and If You're not the one.

This latest album makes him sound much mature than before, and I miss thw quirky beat of GGTT. I love his first few songs. I'll rate some of them. (out of 10)

Growing up - 7. Nice song.. but the lyrics is quite .. unsatisfactory. No one told me growing up will be this hard baby, no one told me growing up will be this hard.. I mean, the lyrics are just too "duh". No one tells me it's hard too.

Complicated - 8. Fun song, I like it.

My faves have got to be Nothing Hurts Like Love, All Your Attention and The Way.

Buy this album.. it's not bad, if you're his fan.

2 out of 5 stars There are better Deodato albums out there.......2005-01-05

Deodato is a great fusion jazz artist, but there is better albums, For a better selection check out Whirlwinds, Preludes & Rhapsodies & Artistry.

As for this album, Crabwalk is one of the better tunes, as is Caravan/Watusi Strut. the rest is somewhat drivel, especially Black Dog. I havent heard many worse Led Zep covers.

You will not be disappointed if you check out the others.

5 out of 5 stars Deodato at his best * * * * * * * * * * * * *.......2002-08-21

This is a superb album; I grew up listening to it and fell in love with it as years went by; It's got eveything Deodato always expressed in his music; talent, funk, jazz, rock, lots of keyboards, immagination, skills way ahead of his time. etc. etc.

Black Dog was a classic back then and still is, and perhaps the best cut in the album is Adam's Hotel by Marcos Valle. A definite Must-Have for Jazz and Rock fans.

5 out of 5 stars One of the besto albums of Eumir Deodato.......2002-07-23

This is one of the best albums of Eumir Deodato. For the jazz lovers I recommend this album, because the jazz lovers will enjoy it. This is a jazz album that all the jazz lovers should have.

I live on the pop side of jazz and bumped into Silje Nergaard on a Verve sampler CD. Track 7 from this album appeared there and (as usually happens) it was not a typical track from this album. Kinda joyful while the rest of At First Light is mellow, melancholic, blue... but all of this in the best way! Above all her voice is... wow... reminds me of Billie Holiday's.
If you like Norah Jones you will love Silje Nergaard. Norah is more than just good but Silje is more convincing. I don't know her other work (yet) but I love what I hear here.

    Customer Reviews:

    5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!.......2004-05-01

What can i say, Roger Sanchez is one of the greatest Dj's around, and this album is absolutely amazing. No fillers, just a great variation of good dance songs. He's a american guy who's been around for long making many remix albums, but this was actually his first solo album. You might remember "Another Chance" a beautiful slow song with a voice saying "Another chance to love", yeah a big hit in 2001 in Europe, all songs does not sound like that at all. The first song, "Computerbank" is indeed Kraftwerk inspired, a typical electro song. "You Can't Vhange Me" with his dj friend Armand Van Helden and Ndea Davenport from Brand New Heavies, reminds me alot of Van Helden's "You don't know me" it's a soulish catchy dance song. It continues with samba influented "The Partee". "Contact" it's probably my favorite, it's pure house, and a very good song too with good beats and sample you won't forget, after a while they use some weird guitar riffs in it. "Ventura" starts with very high bass and later funky beats and latino music. "Nothing to prove" with Sharleen Spiteri from Texas is a catchy pop-dance song, sounds more then of a remix of a Texas song then a colaboration between the two. "I Never Know" is a great house song with soul inflennts, it starts as house but become more of a uptempo soul song with the lyrics. "Leavin" is a slow song with a powerful female voice, it's a bit jazzy, allright closer. This albut is not as commercial as Paul Oakenfolds "Bunkka" it reminds me a bit of some of Armand Van Helden's work, lot of variation and still very unique eventhough it got some guest artists included. There is no doubt, get it now!. Why it's a import is beyond me, after all Sanchez is American.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Dance Music.......2001-10-22

One of the most heralded D.J.'s has finally launched his debut album, after years of mixing and producing for the most famous names in all types of dance music. The wait has certainly been worth it for this is one of the best dance albums you'll hear this year.It encompasses all types of dance music from hard house to techno, from popular stuff to trance and also a bit of ambience for good measure. The stand out track is of course the Ibiza anthem of the summer Another Chance.Using a sample from Toto's 'I Won't Hold You Back'-this 7 minutes of dance heaven is sensational.Yet this album does not just have a one hit wonder mark stamped on it.The opening track 'Computabank' is an excellent techno romp, which certainly uses the music of Kraftwerk as an obvious influence.

There are also some excellent guest vocal appearances from the likes of Sharleen Spiteri of Texas fame. Her collabortion sounds quite like Texas doing a dance track-and I'd say fans of that group will like this song.N'Dea Davenport of Brand New Heavies fame also guests on a track which amazingly also features fellow d.j. maestro Armand Van Helden. This song is quite innovative as it's hard house colliding with acid-jazz.Song 5 has an amazing latino feel to it-especially with it's bass and use of horns. This track is so aptly titled 'The Partee'!One of the best Ibiza type tracks is the next one 'Ventura'-with it's repetitive, pulsating rhythm you can see this one also being huge in most clubs.Track 7 features Cooly's Hot Box on vocals. The strings and disco overtures make this funky little number sound quite like Jamiroquai-has the pottential to be another major club hit.The final guest vocals are also my favourite and these are done by Angela Johnson on the final track. This one has a beautiful ambient feel to it-what with cello and lilting guitars giving this track a real chillout feel.

There may only be nine tracks on the c.d.,but each one is well over 5 minutes long and there are absolutely no 'fillers' or duds on the c.d.For those of you who enjoy the Ibiza and Cafe Del Mar sound then I'd certainly recommend you check out this c.d.

    4 out of 5 stars almost 5 stars.......2001-08-09

this is a short review because it's my dinner time. this is one of my best house cds (i also have bob sinclair, daft punk, basement jaxx, ian pooley, cassius, santos, st. germain, etienne de crecy, les rithmes digitales...). best songs are Contact (just listen to the bass in this instrumental track), You can't change me (classic vocal house a la armand van helden - you don't even know me), The partee (latin american. ever heard of the heartists - belo horizonti (author claudio coccoluto, remix by basement jaxx)? this is sort of similar), I never knew. the others are pretty good so there's no reason for not buying this

5 out of 5 stars First Contact high.......2001-08-03

One whiff of this baby will put your head in the clouds and keep you dancing all night long. From the moment the door opens on electronic "Computer Bank" through the smash disco house hit "Another Chance" and the destined to be a timeless classic "You Can't Change Me" (the lyrics are written by Roger, are every DJs mantra) this is a entrancing excurision into a few of the facets of Roger Sanchez's estimable talent. Roger has been talking about the making of his artist album for many years, and talked to me about it recently for dancemusic.about.com: "Initially when I started the concept of my album I wanted to make it more of a timeline, a story of my life, but what ended up happening was I wound up pulling a lot of the tracks that represented hip hop phase off of it. Instead, it became a little more personal in the sense of where I'm at, getting to know me as a person in terms of what's in my heart and in my head. So I decided to call the album First Contact. It's the first time a lot of people get the chance to get that close, to really see the different sides to me, there is a lot of emotional songs and music on the album." The time was well spent - First Contact is first on my list for favorite albums of the year.

    4 out of 5 stars Sounds Great.......2005-02-05

Sound quality is fantastic considering the ERA (Mid Sixies)for the release, early sixties for the recordings. 2 CDs with the stereo on CD 1 and mono on CD 2. This is one of the better sounding early Beatles CDs. Lacking a few songs ( Ready Teddy and Kansas City) though from that era. Could have included the the extra songs that where on (The Early Tapes of) from the same company 'Polydor'. I would have given it a five if they would have added those 2 songs. The book that comes with this is in both German and English and it appears that the are saying the same thing, no earth shaking information but written well. I am very pleased with the sound and quality of the set. The price is a little steep. But all of the Deluxe Editions are this steep. This is a must get for the Beatles fans. Now all that is needed is to fix up the Star Club tapes.

4 out of 5 stars Good cover of a good song.......2007-04-17

A gentleman below talks about chemistry and other non-subject-related sciences, while describing Sheryl's cover of Cat Stevens' good ol' song. Whether you like Rod Stewart's version or Sheryl Crow's the fact remains that she does a great job in conveying the messege of the song (better than Stewart, IMHO). It is also worth mentioning that she introduces the material to the new generations of listeners. The backup band on her version does not sound as raw as on Rod Stewart's (well, 70's are gone) and overall the song sounds more than just pleasant - it speaks to those who understand the lyrics. I also think this song is perfect for Sheryl's voice.

3 out of 5 stars One Of The Very Few Average Sheryl Crow Songs.......2005-02-06

The release of Sheryl Crow's "The Very Best Of" in October 2003 showcased a true talent in rock music which had reigned for 10 years. From 1993 to 2003, the album was a collection of Crow's best material from four studio albums. The early material from "Tuesday Night Music Club" was evident, where songs such as "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Strong Enough" brought about a striking combination of rock pop and hints of folk and country. The advanced rock pop of her self-titled second album with hits such as "Everyday Is A Winding Road" and "If It Makes You Happy" formed the backbone of the collection, with "My Favorite Mistake" and "Soak Up The Sun" the more recent hits adding to the already sizeable chunk of Crow's body of work.

The album has gone on to sell almost three million copies in America and more than 600,000 in the UK. These sales will add to Crow's already impressive world sales of 15 million considerably and will see her continue long into the future. The Very Best Of also featured a few new tracks. The lead single was "The First Cut Is The Deepest," a cover version of the Cat Stevens original. Most people usually approach cover versions with a little scepticism, as did I myself with this one. It's an average song and I don't really regard it as one of Sheryl's best, but it makes for an interesting look at where her career will take her in the future.

The song opens with some soft guitars before Sheryl starts singing the first verse, "I would have given you all of my heart. But there's someone who's torn it apart. And he's taken just all that I had. But if you want I'll try to love again. Baby I'll try to love again but I know..." Sheryl then starts singing the first chorus, "The first cut is the deepest. Baby I know the first cut is the deepest. But when it come to being lucky he's cursed. When it come to loving me he's the worst." The second verse then starts and Sheryl sings, "I still want you by my side. Just to help me dry the tears that I've cried. And I'm sure going to give you a try. And if you want I'll try to love again. Baby I'll try to love again but I know." Sheryl then sings the chorus again, before a guitar-laden instrumental plays.

Once this instrumental dies down, Sheryl sings the second verse again, before the drums build the song up and the chorus is sung again over and over until the song dies out and ends. The video to the song was really great in my opinion. We see Sheryl playing her guitar in the middle of no where, over an expansive landscape and riding a horse. She looks free and healthy and the video really works well with the tone of the song. Overall I do like this song, but it's not nearly my favourite Sheryl Crow song. The woman is a rock legend, but this song does nothing for that status. Buy it only if you're a die hard fan.

2 out of 5 stars Not The Deepest.......2004-01-26

Sometimes, when covering a certain kind of song, it always needs to have a bit improvement, or the original version seems to take the cake. That does come with the case for Sheryl Crow. She hasn't provided any heavy covers among any of her albums, but there is always the chance to add on for the hitting parades. Her cover of the Cat Stevens classic, The First Cut Is The Deepest really is one of the few lackluster songs that Sheryl Crow has ever done. Although it is nice for the die hard Sheryl Crow fan, it doesn't seem to the actual chemistry that Rod Stewart had conjured when he did it back in the 70's. Unfortunately, it was done in two different versions by Sheryl, and neither of them had a certain chemistry, very rarely said for a Sheryl Crow Track. Hopefully, she can make a better cover song soon.

    5 out of 5 stars Great cover.......2003-12-08

'THE FIRST CUT IS THE DEEPEST', the new Shery Crow single is actually a cover of an old Cat Stevens' song, which Rod Stewart made popular years ago. Sheryl's version is excellent, a slow-rock, acoustic song with nice guitar performances and a very emotional melody, among those which bring memories back. Nice job Sheryl!

    5 out of 5 stars great song.......2003-10-31

Lots of female harmony, sort of a cross between Shawn Colvin and the Indigo Girls. Great lyrics, really meaningful. Good rhythm too. Definitely worth buying.
