Customer Reviews:
Crystal Clear Recording.......2006-09-30
I bought these albums originally, as a teenager, years ago on viny. I have them both as individual CDs, but they are mono. This dual CD set is absolutely wonderful. Besides the fact that the cost is very low, the recordings are in true stereo, and are absolutely crystal clear. You can differentiate the voices of Graham Nash and Tony Hicks, as they harmonize behind Alan Clarke. It's as good as it gets. You are listening to the master tapes. The second album, In the Hollies Style, which was not released in the U.S. originally since it did not have a single hit, is really good. I as very happy with this purchase, even though I have the CDs already in another mono version and the original albums on viny. This is the best! The only negative is that there are no bonus tracks.

THE SOUND TAKES SHAPE.......2004-07-23
As the young Hollies continued to roll out hit singles in England, the band (along with producer Ron Richards) always made sure to attempt to do something different with their British LPs. Following the lead of The Beatles and George Martin, The Hollies resisted including their hit single catalog on their albums in the UK. That?s why ?I Want To Hold Your Hand? wasn?t included on WITH THE BEATLES and why Hollies hits like ?Here I Go Again? and ?Just One Look? aren?t included on IN THE HOLLIES? STYLE. What really makes IN THE HOLLIES? STYLE a quality effort is the number of self-composed songs on the set. Also, again we?re treated to the talents of drummer Bobby Elliott and guitarist Tony Hicks, the real ?meat and potatoes? of the Hollies instrumental sound. Lead vocalist Allan Clarke begins to step to the forefront of the vocal sound here, but we?re treated to the world?s first Graham Nash solo lead vocal with the track ?To You My Love,? making IN THE HOLLIES? STYLE a landmark in pop music history. This album really goes a long way to prove that the Hollies indeed had the ?goods? and were going to be around for a long time. The highlights are just too many to mention. The unfortunate thing is that the Hollies? American label (Imperial Records) didn?t take the option to release ANY of this material, since they were late to the dance and had just gotten around to releasing some of the material from the Hollies first UK album STAY WITH THE HOLLIES.
the hollies review.......2001-02-24
buy this! this is a great cd, mainly due to the original content even I who ain't much of a dancer at all can go nuts to this stuff! I really give it an 11 out of 12!! Is there such a thing as too much talent?? nah! the other one to buy is the abbey road three cd collection! this would be the hits one! to me their best stuff will always be from 63-66! look thru any window and I'm alive being the top of their creativity! only song missing in this is jennifer eccles, the last shot at innocence!
A beat era classic.......2001-01-24
This is the Hollies' second album, never released in the U.S. It features a generous number of original songs (credited to the anonymous "L. Ransford"), some of which ("Time for Love," "Please Don't Feel Too Bad" and "Set Me Free") hold up well as early examples of the Hollies' eclectic and energetic approach to pop rock. Some of the covers shine as well, the medley of "Nitty Gritty/Something's Got a Hold on Me" oozing a bit of that sweaty club feel, and "What Kind of Boy" the sound of a single-that-never-was. There's also Graham Nash's first solo vocal, on the otherwise forgettable "To You, My Love." The whole project sounds like it took no more than a couple of days to record, but that's part of the charm.
EXCELLENT.......1999-02-22
THIS ALBUM IS UP TO THE HOLLIES USUAL STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE. LISTEN TO THIS INSTEAD OF RAP!___RJHC
