Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Dublin Band.......2007-05-13

Received it as a gift from my Irish friend who is really into music. I'm glad that he introduced me to this band with this CD because it's really good indie rock music. The live show is also very entertaining. It made me laugh and think of my Irish friend's funny humor. :)

5 out of 5 stars Set List-Wish I was There.......2006-03-09

The Frames, known for their brilliance live, have duly captured the charisma that makes them so good live on Set List. The album has all the old classics-Revelate, Lay Me Down, Fitzcarraldo and a new track the blood.
The album opens with old favourite revelate and glen and the boys don't fail to disappoint. Star Star is it's usual anthemic self, and the bit of 'pure imagination' is, well, pure genius.
Lay Me Down finishes stormily with a Johnny Cash 'ring of fire' tribute. The six minute thriller God Bless Mom is followed by my personal favourite, so what happens when the heart just stops. The song starts with a heartwarming anecdote about a dog the band knew when they were kids.
The catchy folk tune Rent Day Blues, with harmonicas and banjos of course is followed by the lively, almost violent Pavement tune and stars are underground.
Rob Bochnik, a recent addition to the band via Chicago, proves his worth on Santa Maria with some heavy, churning guitar riffs and then comes the old Favourite, eight minute epic that is Fitzcarraldo.
Overall, this is an album not to be missed, and it is a shame that the frames do not get the credit and indeed, recognition they deserve. The charisma and connection between Glen Hansard, his bandmates and the audience is astounding.
So, even if you have never heard of the frames, ever, buy it anyway. If you like indie rock at all, then this album will not disappoint. The frames are not like those laffy-daffy, overrated bands like Travis, the darkness and BellX1. In short, BUY THIS ALBUM!

5 out of 5 stars Sensational.......2006-03-05

My friend bought this album and I heard it. It was absolutely amazing. The power of The Frames live is quite intimidating. There are some tracks here that would easily beat some of the top bands today. Songs like Revelate, Lay Me Down(with a tremendous Johnny Cash tribute at the end, and Fitzcarraldo are unbelieveable, while Star Star would be the frames' best shot of indie pop stardom. Ireland's best kept secret and I have since went to see them live(Ulster hall, 20th Dec 2005)and they were great beyond belief. They did a bit of Snow Patrol's 'Run' during star star. Forget Hard-Fi, Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, U2 and The Ordinary Boys, the Frames are the best band on earth.

4 out of 5 stars If you find the studio albums boring, try this instead.......2004-01-23

I listened to some of The Frames' studio stuff and found it a bit mellow. This CD however is much more energetic and makes the songs suddenly seem interesting. They're obviously talented, so hopefully this will help them improve their next studio album.

4 out of 5 stars Has everything a live recording should - passion and feeling.......2003-09-30

Irish band, The Frames, just get better and better. 'For The Birds' was their most atmospheric (and their best) album to date but in no way reflected the fire and passion of the band in a live situation.

Recorded after a long period of touring, this effort shows the ability of the band to express themselves in a cohesive way and yet exhibit some apparent spontenaity. To give the band all the credit would be going only half way - if nothing else the audience deserves significant credit for the feel of this album. And their involvement is a credit to the recording, mixing and production of this album - it is first class. The audience involvement in singing along word for word with Glen in the opening track is just spine tingling and throughout the set their intimate knowledge of the material adds to the engaging feel of the album (check out 'Rent Day Blues' for example).

This is up there with the best of live albums from anyone you might care to name (I was thinking Neil Young's 'Rust Never Sleeps' myself). Old songs, new songs even a couple of covers thrown in (Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire' and Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song') as well integrated medleys that just add to the experience.

Buy it, play it, turn it up loud and pretend you were there. It is really that good. I wish I had been there..........
