Editorial Reviews
No Depression, July/August 2001
Could the best twang-informed roots band you've never heard be alive and thriving in...New York City?"
Product Description
Star City's 2nd album, produced by Dennis Diken (drummer, Smithereens) and Dave Amels (Bomb Factory, Lenny Kravitz), is a great leap forward, combining the groups stellar playing with a mix of pop, country, and indie sounds. The result is unique to Star City.
Beginning with the majestic "Town and Country" and ending with the quite yet powerful "Icarus Turn," Inside the Other Days takes the listener on a roller coaster ride through different styles and sweeping emotional terrain.

Good roots rock.......2002-02-02
Having said that, Star City lies somewhere in the middle. They are better songwriters than 5 Chinese Brothers, but their music lacks the distinctiveness of The Hangdogs. The songs run the gamut from neo-bluegrass ("West Virginia Hills") to folk to rock and vary greatly in sound from track to track. At times, they even recall another little known New York City band, Saturnine, from their "Wreck at Pillar Point" heyday.
Overall, the biggest drawback on "Inside the Other Days," is the songwriting, which is not uniformly consistent. A few more hooks and a couple of more catchy choruses are what this band needs if they are ever going to rise from the ranks of obscurity.
