5 out of 5 stars Great Debut.......2007-07-02

This is a great traditional-flavored debut country album by Sara. Sara has a great voice. I'm not much into the traditional country sound, but I think this album really won me over because of its great energy on the uptempo stuff mixed with truly engaging ballads. Here are notable songs:

True Lies
Shame About That - very high-spirited
3 Chords and the Truth - ballad about reconciling with lover after hearing song on radio

If You Ever Want My Lovin
Even Now - really moves
Tiger by the TAil - very feisty, listener wants to dance around
Walk Out Backwards

Sara's done good stuff since, but nothing better than this album

5 out of 5 stars Early Sara Evans.......2007-05-16

It has a country twang you don't find on the newer Sara Evans albums more traditional, but good

4 out of 5 stars A great debut album!.......2007-03-31

This is one of Sara's best albums. It's very country and has a great country songs on it. Too bad Radio didn't like it - It hit a wall with radio sadly. But if you love old-fashioned country songs, this is for you!

Choice tracks:
True Lies
Shame about That
Three Chords and the Truth

5 out of 5 stars Sara's Best!.......2007-02-18

If you only buy one Sara Evans album, this should unquestionably be the one. This is a truly superb album. I have found it very, very rare to have the reaction that I had to this fine collection of traditional country songs. From the very first Patsy Cline-ish introductory notes of "True Lies", I was entranced by the warmth and emotion of the words and music. Sara's voice is wonderful and many of the songs were penned by her. This is not Pop/Country crossover along the lines of Faith Hill or Shania Twain; this is "Old School" country at its very best. (Unfortunately, Sara diverged in that direction on later albums before returning triumphantly with "Real Fine Place", another wonderful country CD. If you have a few dollars more, get "Real Fine Place" next.)

5 out of 5 stars Sara Evans - Three Chords And The Truth.......2005-10-14

This is probably one of the best counry performances, ever. Sara is not ony beautiful but she is a dynamic singer who puts her whole being into her singing. Hearing her sing "Imagine That" puts her a very close second, if not and equal, to Patsy Cline. I have never heard anyone other than Patsy sing this song with the feeling and quality that Sara does. "I've Got A Tiger By The Tail"? Absolutely super! This CD is a must for anyone who loves pure country.

1 out of 5 stars blah.......2007-01-26

allright Ducky Boys "Dark Days" and "No Gettin Out" are two of my favorite CD's in my collection. the new ducky boys CD's however i cant stand, its sounds to commercial, like a song youd here on m-tv being requested by a lettle girl with a room full of unicorns or something im gonna sell it to a used cd store and pretend i never bought it! oh ya "the war back Home" is even worse.
now to be fair to the music and to the Ducky Boys, because with there other music i consider them my favorite band! my style of music is punk! you might like the newer ducky boys, to each is own!

5 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE THIS........2006-02-25

What a great music and lyrics,,,,that's my wrap-up. This CD is still my rotation ever since I bought it a month before the release through Thorp records. When I am energetic I always start listeing from the begining (sound transition from track 1 to 3 is outstanding). When I do not feel good about life, I start listening from the track 7 ("Stand By Me"). Although I love all songs, if I have to pick one favorite, I might select either "Richmond Skyline" or "Crumbling Heart." These songs are incredible, man! I mean, everything good are in here-excellent song structure, sweet vocal, nice guitar works, awesome lyrics-this cd is purely good. I am afraid that next Ducky Boys CD might not surpass the productivity of "Three Chords" but I hope that "The War Back Home" is at least as good as this album (I know they'll live up to my expectation!). I have to reiterate that this album is monster! Also I do not understand why some fans do not like this album as much as "Darky Days" because the band has successfully extended their range of instrumentation to be more heuristic. To conclude, everything that Mark Lind does are phenomenal, since he is a very creative artist.

3 out of 5 stars Solid albumn, no breakthrough though.......2005-10-04

I have liked the Ducky Boys since their first release. They bring more of the same but with a serious upgrade in production.
The resulting sound is mellower, more intentionally melodic, and less raw.
It is a good record but it isn't these Bostonians best

5 out of 5 stars must own.......2005-05-06

Absolutely outstanding. Mark Lind and The Ducky Boys have a masterpiece here from the first track to the last. . . BUY THIS RECORD!!! And while your at it, pick up 'Dark Days'.

5 out of 5 stars I can't get enough! .......2005-01-31

This is the first album I own by this group, and I can't get enough. This is very good, driving, guitarsy punk rock, along the lines of Social Distortion, Naked Raygun, and Dropkick Murphys. I highly recommend this. My favorite tracks are "Break Me", "One for the Underdogs", and "Crumbling Heart", but there's not a song on this album I don't like. You'll find yourself singing along!

    5 out of 5 stars Excellent Record.......2001-02-26

This band and album are what good rock-n-roll is supposed to be about. These guys are good for the same reasons AC/DC (though they sound nothing like them) are good: the songs are pure and fun and the lyrics show off a great sense of humor. The musicianship is top notch and I'm not just saying all of this because I know these guys personally and went to high school and/or college with 2 of them and Eric is always good for sending me their Camel Cash. Buy the album and see one of their shows and you'll be hooked for life. Support these guys so they can get the recognition they deserve.

5 out of 5 stars A Shining Example of what punk rock should be!.......2001-01-12

I came across Summerjack recently and I must say that it's been years since I've been so impressed with a new band. They have single-handedly reinvigorated my interest in punk rock and opened my eyes to the future possibilities of punk. Their muscianship is second to none!!! The raw energy of every track is absolutely infectious and is coupled with lyrics that range from irreverent, clever, funny, not to mention suprisingly deep and insightful. You don't have to be a fan of punk rock to get caught up in it, and if you're an old school punk-rocker I'd lay odds that you'll not regret checking out this CD! In my opinion Summerjack embodies everything that is kick-ass about punk rock and will no doubt be the future of the genre!

    5 out of 5 stars rocks.......2000-10-31

I think this band rocks. I bought the album because of an ad I saw in Maximum Rock N Roll, and I'm glad I did. They are rad.

5 out of 5 stars The Greatest of All Time.......2000-10-09

Summerjack's energy, lyrics, and songwriting are of some of the best I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. This band is what real music is all about. Their honesty and power are stronger that any other independent artist I have experienced. Not only are the songs full of intesity, they are skillfully crafted. I put the cd in, pushed play, then was caught up in the forceful strength of the music. It didn't just stop at being music that absolutely adrenalized me, because after reading the lyric sheet, I saw true wisdom and playful philosophies in their content. I hope to God Summerjack gains more national recognition because they offer something totally new and true that the young, and people who have a youthful spirit can identify with and appreciate greatly. Summerjack celebrates the spirit of youth. Summerjack represents chasing dreams. Summerjack can fuel listeners to great accomplishments. I can't wait to see them live. Definitely, something fresh, intense, anthemic, and adrenalizing. I love this band. Summerjack is the true spirit of energy. Summerjack's "Three Chords and the Truth" is a humble title for the genius that is contained in this melodic punk rock trio. If you like the energy of new-school punk rock (nofx, pennywise, lagwagon, blink, afi, good riddance, green day, pulley, fat wreck chords, epitaph, etc.) than you will love Summerjack. They are hard street knowledge combined with intelligence and great songs with no gimmicks, they are what great music should be.
