            Customer Reviews:

            5 out of 5 stars A Must-Have.......2003-06-23

Although I do not have this CD, I have listened to every song on it including the bonus track, thanks to the joy that is music sharing. Each song has it's own beautiful message that can help a person through any situation from the loss of a loved one to wanting to be more than friends, to revenge on a bad ex. Aaron Kamin and Alex Band, co-founders and writers, certainly did a wonderful job in the compilation fo these great tracks.
Vocalist Alex Band shines in this album. It is strong and powerful, but smooth enough to melt anyone's heart. He expresses the feelings in the songs with a voice so passionate it could make a person want to literally get up and dance. The acoustic version of Adrienne, though not on this album, should definitely be heard to understand his amazing vocal talents.
The bonus track Lost is about breaking up and missing that person. It offers a different style of music than some of the other tracks and is still fabulous with a catchy tune.
You can never tire of these wonderful songs. Every time you hear them you feel as if its the first time. There is not a single song on the whole thing I didn't enjoy, and they convey personal messages rather than the everyday popstar. This is defintitely a CD everyone must have. no matter what your style of music, you will enjoy the powerful and passionate songs of Camino Palmero.

5 out of 5 stars Good Bonus Tracks.......2003-06-18

This cd-single features three previously unreleased tracks and a radio edit of "Calling All Angels" from 2003's excellent 'My Private Nation'. The single is vintage Train with a great melody and an incisive, reflective message on the state of society post-9/11. It's a message of guarded hopefullness and very sincerely delivered with a catchy melody as good as anything from 'Drops of Jupiter'. What makes this cd-single worth purchasing, however, is the quality of the three bonus tracks (not available anywhere else thus far). Both "For You" and "Landmine" could've easily fit on 'My Private Nation' and I wonder why they were left off. "Fascinated" is worth hearing as well although it's a little repetitive. Each track is between three and four minutes in duration. These bonus songs aren't nearly as stylistically diverse as the two extra tracks included with the limited edition pressings of 'Drops of Jupiter'. "Landmine" is particularly good although it is rather similar in sound to "Counting Airplanes" from MPN. Well worth purchasing for these hard to track down quality tracks by one of today's best rock n' roll bands.

            5 out of 5 stars Angel Bound.......2003-06-08

There is no doubt that Train has been out of the public eye for a certain period of time. Nevertheless, their back with a brand new hit song, Calling All Angels. This personally happens to be one of their best songs currently. Pat Monahan and company surely have come a long way since they started with Meet Virginia back in 1999. Personally, I really enjoyed not just the song, but its video is absolutely breathtaking. I absolutely love the computer-animated graphics. There is no doubt that this is truly one of the top songs for 2003.

            5 out of 5 stars Yes!.......2003-05-29

I didn't know trains could fly, but Train certainly soars here. True they don't break any new ground here, but "Calling on Angels" is exactly what I wanted to hear from train anyway. It is Train to perfection and in my mind is superior even to the mega-hit "Drops of Jupiter" I hope these guys continue to make their own brand of uplifting music for a long time.

            5 out of 5 stars Refreshing Similarity.......2003-04-29

Train has a sound that is still captured in their latest tracks, without sounding too redundant. These releases are within the same Train style, that most fans will enjoy. If you're expecting a big change, you'll be disappointed. If you liked Drops of Jupiter, you will equally like these new tracks. Great listening.

4 out of 5 stars It grows with time.......2005-11-18

This album has Tony Banks written all over it and unlike Phil Collin and Mike Rutherford (Mike and the Mechanics)Tony has never had much success with his solo career, yet I like his compositions none the less and thats pretty much the way I feel about this album. Neverment to be a pop album it did pretty much what it was ment to do, cover for what must have been a difficult transition. Perhaps a better producer could have helped. The album does have a sticky quality to it and when listening without comparisen it's quit nice.

            5 out of 5 stars Underated Indeed.......2005-04-04

First of all, I am a Genesis fan as a listener and a musician. This album comes in the top 5 Genesis album in my list. I can see how some hardcore 70's Genesis fans might not like Phil Collins because of his influence that eradicated some of the artistic musical complexity that Genesis might have been associated on albums like "Selling England By The Pound" etc. That were some of the differences between Tony Banks(keyboardist)who wanted long epic songs and Phil who wanted to go in a pop format. Genesis went pop in the 80's and their's nothing wrong with that because it brought some good songs to the public, and it's Phil that should be thanked of the great success of Genesis. Most people will know songs like "Land Of Confusion" but how many people know "Squonk"? Which comes now to the Ray Wilson era. This is a whole new progressed Genesis. "Calling All Stations" the opening track of this album is very uniquely written. The chord changes never repeat themselves. The whole album has a darker tone then any of their previous albums. I thought that was a good move, cause that was more in tune with what was going on in the 90's. Ray Wilson's voice is a bit more raspidy which took me a while to get used to after listening for their first performance in Cape Canaveral, but after listening to the album a couple of times. It fits! We all have been under that Phil Collins banner for such a long time that we forget that Peter Gabriel's voice also had that dark rasp to it. Ray Wilson was a good choice. Songs like "Ship wrecked" is a beautiful song. Ray Wilson sings with emotions that fits with this darker Genesis. Some songs are a bit strange song writing wise. You can see that some of these songs were written by Tony Banks before Ray even got there. It did well in Europe and in other places and even won some awards in other countries. It's just that some people are stuck in their ways and I guess that is all right. Which Van Halen was better... Dave, Sammy, or Cherone? It's three diiferent bands, and that is the case with "Calling All Stations." I know that Ray Wilson had a 3 record contract with Genesis, but unfortunately I do not think that Rutherford or Banks had the patience. They let go of Wilson cause this album was not big in the U.S. They should have given Wilson some time. This would have morphed in to something new. I would have wished to hear how they would have progressed in the second album with Wilson. Bottom line is "Calling All Station" is a legitimate Genesis album.

            4 out of 5 stars ...genesis evolved........2004-12-06

I left the remnants of the Phil Collin's era due to it's poppish taste of rendering it's own original material. Gone are the days when Peter Gabriel was at it's helm of progressive music, defining rock in it's eccentric form and until this day I am his avid fan. Ray Wilson had made me want to buy again a Genesis album after many years of refusing to look at them either. This is the Genesis I was hoping it would evolved into.

5 out of 5 stars This is a fabulous album!.......2003-10-28

I can't believe no one liked bought this amazing album. This is by far Genesis' best CD that they had made in many years and it's a massive injustice at what this album had recieved when released.
I was instantly excited when I heard about their newest release and instantly ran out and baught it and have not regretted it one bit! This is worth the money. The music is a lot darker and far less accessible than the lightweight material that they made with Phil Collins when he was their lead singer. I must say that Ray Wilson did such a great job on this album and it's really stupid that Rutherford and Banks fired him after the 'failure' of this album.

My favorites are the title track, "Small Talk", "Small Talk", and "One Man's Fool". I could care less about "It's Not About Us" and "If That's What You Need" because they don't rank up with the rest of the songs on here. Still those aren't bad either, just not as good as the rest.

This is a highly recommended album.

5 out of 5 stars CAS is astounding!.......2003-09-19

This 1997 effort with Genesis without their former lead singer Phil Collins is a vastly underrated album and is in fact, one of my favorite albums of theirs and is a highly recommended album.
This release is far away from the easily accessible pop of what Genesis did between 1981 through the end of 1992 yet is a distance away from the progressive style that defined Genesis' pre-1978 albums. In ways, this album is totally different from any of their other albums and stands out on it's own. Ray Wilson made such a great successor to Phil Collins and I'm very mad at Banks and Rutherford for deciding to throw in the towel following this albums success. One commercial dud is completely normal for most bands.

Buy this CD Today! And someone please get a bullhorn and tell this PC and PG heads to cut it out with their whining!

              5 out of 5 stars Beyond description....and belief.......2005-05-16

This album serves as a great introduction to Current 93...in fact, it's all you really need. You might find the first CD disturbing, or perhaps irritating, but it segways nicely into the second disk. If you listen to disk 2 with an open mind, the heart-wrenching vocals and melodies will blow you away. Nothing can top Bloodstreamruns and The Great Bloody and Bruised Veil of the World.

              1 out of 5 stars puh-leeze!.......2004-08-26

Current 93 has got to be the worst band in the history of bad bands. The production is grating, the lyrics are infantile, and David Tibet's understanding of the metaphysical goes about as deep as a box of Count Chocula. But ooooohhh.. doesn't his voice sound scary? No. He sounds like a little kid who's mad at his mummy for not buying him an X-Box. Avril Lavigne inspires more thought than these clowns. This music is garbage. The only people who could possibly enjoy it are those who wear halloween costumes every day of the year.

5 out of 5 stars Being Sick, Sick, Sick Never Felt So Fine.......2004-05-04

Ahhh, apocalyptic folk music with ambient industrial atmospheres, and the awe-inspiring voice and lyrics of David Tibet, which soar from gnostic Christian flights of glory to Thelemic quests for endless liberty to harrowing explorations of the crushing weight of earth's torments.

While listening to this album I go through the full gamut of emotions: Laughing out loud, scared, confused, tears, awe, and joy. And back again. For me, this album is the best all around place to enter Current 93's "sick, sick, sick" world. "Outsider" music at its finest. . . . Gentle psychopaths of the world should love it.

One of the best anthology recordings I've ever heard. Not only are the individual tracks great, but the sequencing of the tracks is flawless with many tracks carefully bleeding into the next one. There are whole worlds contained within these 2 discs.

A perfect place to start getting into one of the most potent U.K. esoteric bands ever. Don't miss it.

              5 out of 5 stars If you buy only 1 C93 Album.......2002-08-30

After listening to most of the Current 93 releases I'd have to say this is the 'best bang for the buck' album. It contains the only folk music I've ever liked on the 2nd CD. There was only 1 or 2 songs I liked on the first CD which contains their older work which isn't as good as the acustic stuff they wrote in the mid 90s. Any music affilado should buy and listen to this, my tastes vary greatly and this is one of the cornerstones in my 300+ CD music collection. The only bad thing I have to say is that album doesn't contain my favorite track "The Cat is Dead" which can only be found on the Michael Cashmore/C93 CD.

              5 out of 5 stars Calling C93.......2001-10-28

I haven't owned any Current 93 cds until i got copy of "Calling for Vanished Faces". It's indeed a great collection of Current 93's finest pieces. 1st cd represents wider range of styles, from psychedelic, experimental noise to calm, beautiful apocalyptic ballads (the very heart of Current 93). 1st cd would be perfect without tracks "Arch Golgatha" and "Looney Runes" due almost hysteric, almost obscene screaming and almost amusing modifying of the vocals. CD one also features tracks "Falling" feat. collabration with Björk and "All Pretty Little Horses" - vocals by Nick Cave.
2nd CD is just pure perfection -- apocalyptic, magickal and yet very touching songs. Check out tracks like "Bloodstreamruns" and "Calling for Vanished Faces 1" -- all very very beautiful.
