For the price, this CD is a great bargain. The musical selections, as you might expect, are mixed in quality ranging from extraordinary to so so, the balance being worthwhile and interesting. Sonically the CD is excellent.

O for the good old days when Songs were sung and not screamed. Robin Lee's Black Velvet is one of the best songs every to be produced by Atlantic Records. Sixteen years later and it is still one of my favorites.

5 out of 5 stars Enjoy good old hardcore punk rock? Like to laugh? Get this CD.......2007-05-26

If you have seen the documentary, The Decline of Western Civilization, which covered the LA punk rock scene around 1982 or so, or heard the sound track, you MUST buy this CD. Take all those classic songs, and the clips of them talking with the bands, and fans, then, shake it with a huge dose of retro-lounge, and you get this CD.

For those of you into the old LA hardcore bands, this CD will be a joy. You have to love the re-working of the interview with the Germ's manager.

So, if you love punk rock, or enjoyed Decline, get this CD. You will not regret it.

Black Velvet Flag were a great band that were doing comedic lounge covers of classic punks songs...long before this Richard Cheese fellow came along and picked up the shtick. The were amazing live and this recording is excellent! The other reviews here complain of the interview tidbits-those are all paradies of the interviews in the documentary film Decline of Western Civilization, which the name and cover of this recording are mocking. It's brilliant. I've never gotten tired of this. I wish they were still around.

Quite possibly the worst CD I've ever heard..No actually the worst cd I ever heard.
There is no rhythm, no rhyme, no talent, on a scale of one to ten I give it a 1 for coming up with the idea..but the musical KAPOW never quite happened. There is too much time spent on interviews...more than likely to fill the otherwise hollow tracks..and the band..and the singer. Just say NO!
I hated this cd so much that I should just give it for free to the first person who wants it however I feel so strongly about the quality of it that I refuse to do anything other than put on high in the microwave for fifteen minutes.

I'm very fond of this CD, particularly the cover of "Institutionalized." I can only hope that the interviews, however, were an attempt to poke fun at posers - skip 'em. The lounge-style covers of venerable punk tunes actually works, though.

This is one of the worst CDs I've ever heard. Pure torture. I know it's supposed to be a joke but the singer's voice is so painfully off key that you'll be screaming for mercy after about 30 seconds. I'm sure glad I wasn't one of the six people in the audience the day this was recorded. Just horrible.

This country rock with a little Cajun spice livens up the soul. Thanks to my Boston buddy Bill for suggesting the CD. While some of the lyrics are "bad to the bone" and "desperado," the sounds are 100-percent alive. The songs carry messages of dreams and hard times, but it's music we can all relate too, the ups and downs of life's trials and tribulations. "As You Go Down," "Let It Flow" "Seven More Times" and "We Plough the Fields" are the best tracks.

Pete Anderson does a good job producing the CD.
