5 out of 5 stars One of the best Hardcore albums of all time!.......2001-02-28

I first bought this cd when it was first released in 1994 i believe. In my opinion, what makes a classic cd,is one where you can put it on,and even years after it's release It gives you that same great feeling that you get when you first heard it.This holds true with Threadbare. This is a classic cd in every sense of the word. It wasn't like they were doing anything newor different from bands like Unbroken,108,etc..but there was something about this cd that just set it apart from the rest of the "chugga, chugga" open E chord bands of the time. The vocals and lyrics had a real emotion to it that was just crushing,THE way the music would float from those mellow drifting parts,Then just explode into those heart-wrentching dissonant guitar chords,The way the bass just pulsated into those rhythmic bloodlet-esque patterns, proved that they were much more talented then any of the xxx bands that were on victory records at the time. This cd is Beauty, bitterness, and for the year it came out It was ahead of it's time. Like I said before this cd is timeless classic, and a must have for anyone into emo or hardcore. This one is much better than the "Escapist".Number 3 and 6 still to this day bring me to tears and take my breath away.a perfect cd all the way through.

5 out of 5 stars ten ton brilliance.......2000-11-14

I guess there is just something intrinsic to the emo/hardcore scene that causes amazing and talented groups to last no longer than the proverbial moment. Nonetheless, Threadbare were an astoundingly talented group, as evidenced on this album perhaps more than "escapist." Though "escapist" has a driving, more melodic and conventional intensity, I think "feeling older faster" conveys a more crushing, unrefined (uncommercialized?), and yet purer case for emotional introspection.

Enough of my opining. This album is seriously heavy. Slower yet not ponderous. Desperate and grieving, yet acutely intelligent. Mostly hoarse vocals, though the band, including the singer, move from quieter moments to louder ones purposefully and fluidly. Excellent hardcore bass/guitar interplay, and not always of the traditional, chugging, hardcore variety.
