Wonderful voice, bad translations........2006-12-21

This CD does not show her voice to it's full capacity, but I like her music a lot. I own nearly all her CD's and definitely prefer the songs in French to the English translations. If you like European techno you will like this CD in French or English. (I recomend the French version though.) For those who think she does not have a great voice, check out her Vie en Rose CD. She covers some French classics and while the versions may not be traditional or lyrics complete, her voice gave me goosebumps. It shows off her sound better without the distractions of the techno beat. In-Grid is definitely a wonderful singer and will hopefully be around a long time. Her variety thus far gives me hope she will endure long after techno is passé.

This album stinks. Because there are two CDs, it stinks twice as bad. The only reason I can think of to explain the good reviews written about this album is that they all must be written by In-Grid's relatives. The music is so shallow and simple that anyone could go to Radio Shack, buy the cheapest electronic keyboard, press the DANCE BEAT button and a few other keys, and produce equivalent music. After hearing that same stupid beat over and over, track after track, I couldn't bear to listen to more than the first few seconds of the next track. The voice wasn't much better. If the music was good, I could deal with the voice. And, there were too many times when she ran out of words and we get to hear lots of la la la la, dum de dum dum's. Well, I don't like to pay for those either.

if you like a music, you will like this cd. I have travelled to many countries, and what struck me as odd, is the entire country was fond of this girls music, and she is not even a citizen, i am talking about both Ukraine and russia, they play her songs like as if they have no other music available, you hear her everywhere, it seems she has an excitement with her music that help people feel good, and not to mention her music goes very well with almost everything, from a party, to a disco to a romantic time, her songs go from one extreme to another, with colorful feeling and emotion, she will be a hit here i think in america , unfortunately her music has one song in english and it has a lot to be desired, because of the translation, it will be better to listen to it in french and ofcourse listen to the music, it very quickly you will be addicted to the melody. the videos on the second disc were a treat, but you must watch them on the computer ofcourse. I was also happy with a1bestsellers service, the package was different, but the songs were the same.

In-Grid is Wonderful !!!!.......2004-03-15

I was visiting Munich on a business trip in Feb. 2003, when I saw the Tu Es Foutu video on tv in the hotel and was instantly in love. She is a wonderful singer who could sing anything with or without accompaniment. Her songs can bring tears to your eyes they are so damn good. This album is worth every cent you pay for it. I can't wait for her next album.

I don't like all the songs on this album although i still give it 5 STARS though.....I didn't buy this particular cd i bought some version that still has all the french tracks but it has 2 bonus tracks that features the english versions of TU ES FOUTU and IN-TANGO... < > my favorite songs are

Her best vocal yet.......2006-12-21

I like In-Grid's music a lot but I loved this CD. I loved her vocals, and she really shows a beautiful voice with these songs. I own nearly all her CD's and definitely prefer the songs in French to the English translations. The only thing I did not love was that these seem to be shortened versions of the songs and I like them so much I would have like to have heard the full lyrics. Chill-out lounge session with a classic French twist.......2005-09-18

Do not buy this album if you are looking for a follow-up to "Rendez-Vouz," In-Grid's debut full of chart-topping Eurodance numbers. But you should get it if you like In-Grid and her voice, not just the musical style that made her famous. Because she shifts gears on this one and offers a set of jazzy chill-out versions of classic French standards covered and re-done by many and in various languages over decades.
I had my doubts about this collection after seeing the Hallmark-styled cover and cliche headline "Chilling with In-Grid..." When I finally got it, I realized from the first track, that it is definitely not "Rendez-Vous" and that I should keep an open mind to enjoy it.
Overall the album is quite balanced and well put together, and the singer's smooth above-average vocal delivery provides a new feel to the sweet oldies. Of course comparisons to originals and covers by other artists come to mind. I can say that "Les Champs Elysees" sounds better when sung originally by late Joe Dassin (arrangement also does not fit the mood of the song); "Et Maintenant" was covered much better (though in English) by fabulous Patricia Kaas, as well as "La Mer" (actually half of the songs on this disc appear on "Piano Bar" by Ms. Kaas, the soundtrack to "And Now Ladies and Gentlemen").
Interestingly, from mixed results of the first half of the album, it really picks up and delivers with a punchline from "La Vie On Rose" (track #7) and on. The title track is one song covered by so many artists, and In-Grid does not fail, especially with the beautiful instrumental arrangement. "Ne Mas Quitte Pas" is also quite impressive, especially instrumentally. And then In-Grid channels Her Majesty Edith Piaf, the Queen of Chanson, on "Milord" and "Accordeonist," for which I give the young singer much respect.
So, after all, the album leaves a pleasant feeling and even makes the last track, a clubby "Tu Es Foutu"-styled remix of "Milord" rather unwelcomed.

euro-dance-chanson.......2005-05-21

This album is a well-made collection of chanson and french standard songs in euro-house style.It's amazingly pop,catchy and beautiful.But the best thing in this album is In-grid's vocal which I didn't expected.This girl really can sing!!!This concept is a little cheesy, but her vocal and well-crafted arrangements save this album.If you like euro-dance-pop and french music, this album is for you.

Ok, so everyone who's heard "You Promised Me" is probably VERY tired of it.

Well, perhaps you shouldn't get this album. It is laced with French and Italian influences, set to hypnotic dance beats and trancy synths.

Personally I love the album. The Benassi Brothers dipped a hand for the track "Summer Souvenir" which makes it fun, exciting, and a bit psychotic towards the end.

While some of the songs on this disc are similar, overall the disc is very appealing and a lot of fun to listen to. Her voice, while thickly accented, is easy and enjoyable to sing to, and the songs are simple enough to be universally understandable.

I recommend it, it's a great dancey album.

Amazing !!!.......2004-09-28

This is an awesome album. It has that european feel to it, and if you like european music, then you will like this. Ingrid brings an amazing beat to every song. It makes you want to get up and dance with the songs. It really is a great album. I recommend it to everyone who like this type of music (european). But WARNING - This is the english version. Just in case some of you are looking for the original (french). It is still awesome though either way !!!

Great CD--But Caution: This is the English Version.......2004-06-30

If you are like me and want the ultra-cool French version, you need to order the Import. I didn't know this and got this one--I wish Amazon had mentioned this in the description. Anyway, the music is still wonderful, but to me it just didn't have quite the cache the orginal European version did.

Very Beautiful and Dance The Night Away!!!.......2004-06-17

In-Grid's "Rendezvous" is the best album. With the hits, "You Promised Me (Tu Es Foutu)", "In-Tango", and the latest, "Shock", she crafted beats with the French style that makes us, the listeners, dance all night long. Some of the standout tracks were "Mais La Nuit...Il Dort" (In The Night...He Sleeps), "Pour Toujours" (For Always), "Esclave De Toi" (Slave To You), and "I'm Folle De Toi" (I'm Crazy For You).

It also have a second disc with remixes; 2 for "Tu Es Foutu" (Extended and Miami Grazin' Dub), a Benny Benassi Sfaction mix for "You Promised Me", an extended mix of "In-Tango", a Gambafreaks remix and the Christmas version of "Shock" (my favorite!!)

Like the female artists, they stick with the same beat and go on to a different beat and it sometimes pass or fail depending on the audiences' reactions. But with In-Grid, she sticks with the accordian and make beats that never be forgetful for many years to come.

So, go get the album, you'll be very surprised!!!

Cute and fun..........2004-06-11

I discovered "You Promised Me" and just enjoy the hell out of this number and it's mixes. It perfectly captures the frustration and irony of a stuck up sex object, who makes unreasonable demands, "the moon and the sky," and is pissed off at you because "you forgot."

Wow, what a great song; In-grid is such a great artist, but unfortunately nobody knows that! The new single "Oui" is a very cool & stylish Club-Dance-Song!

You have to check out the "FAVRETTO REMIX" on this cd!!!!!!!!!!! 80s-HOUSE-SOUND PURE!!!!!!!!! VERY DELICIOUS! It?s my favorite!

Cheeze techno.......2000-12-08

A collection of rapidly aging techno-lite with the usual stale sounding rounds of choppy, percussive piano chording, putta-putta bass lines, and the tic-a-tic-a-tic-a of a Roland 808 hi-hat. The only redeeming tracks are #2, Crystal Clear, with a tasty keyboard vamp, and #7, Swamp Thing, with its bizarre banjo. Otherwise, here in late 2000, this work has been far outdone by more recent discs. Unless you're a dyed in the wool moody techo fan, "Music for Dancing" probably is not going to move you much.

Great CD to get started with this powerful group........1999-02-12

Grid is unique...their style never stays the same they are ambient/jazz/house/techno/trance/country/euro. Their latest album is not a disappoint. This album is primarily a greatest hits album with an excellent choice of tracks.

The first track "Flotation" is a trancy/techno style track that mellows you out, great to listen and dance to with a girlfriend in the dark with a candle lit. The second track "Crystal Clear" also more of a trancy style with a rhythmic beat..makes you feel relaxed. The album shifts gears with "Boom" going with a strong beat in the backgroud. Gear 4..."Figure of 8"...high speed...high pumping...loud...DANCE !!! Gear 5..."Roller Coaster" one of their famous songs form the album Evolver, this song is more of a up down rollercoaster sound experience with slow points to real high points!! The coaster heads towards the south with the track "Texas Cowboys" with techno/country ?? Then the track head towards the deep south with a track titled "Swap Thing"...bango playing with fast beats...very intresting. The coaster rebound to a remix of "Crystal Clear" which adds a house twist to this trancey track. The next track is a slower remix of "Figure of 8". "Diablo" the next track is my personal favourite....spanish guitars, high bass, house beat...very good middle song in a party to liven the people up!!! Finally the joyride ends with a true ambient track a remix of "Roller Coaster"...very slow, sad, gloomy end track though a very good ending for this roller coaster of a ride album.

So few albums are really done this good...I mean you have your radio friendly/ MTV bands that has maybe one or two good songs and the rest makes you want to think why did I even buy their album. But Grid wil not disappoint you people.

One of the best albums by one of the best bands.......2006-04-27

I've been a big Bats fan since about 1986 (where'd I put my Geritol...?) and I was really, really happy when I heard this record. I haven't really been fully on board with the Bats for a few years now -- iffy solo stuff, etc. -- but this lush, dreamy set of drony guitar songs swept me away... If you like the spacier stuff by their fellow kiwipopster, David Kilgour, then you'll love this record. Very nice, very mellow.

The Bats are back.......2005-10-15

A beautiful album, IMO every bit as good as any of their previous work. Not as instantly catchy as some of their earlier albums, but just as addictive after a few listens. My current favorite songs are "Western Isles" and "Single File".

I think this may be my third favorite Bats' record. Caveat, I like Fear of God and Silverbeet best. Kudos to Octopus Overlords for letting us know this record was out!! I say GRAB IT!

Ex members of Soft Cell (David Ball) and Jack The Tab era Psychic TV (Roger Norris) this piece originaly came out in '94 (from the album EVOLVER) and was widely popular in the U.K. and Australia. Their slickest and most focused effort featured elaborate banjo lines (played by Roger Dinsdale) over house beats that brings KMFDM vs. "the hampster rodeo" -(w/o the wheezing rodent) to many a Rave-damaged mind. For a measly sawbuck this smoken slab is an essential slice of overlooked electronica history. This dance floor favorite IS a must have.
