Neo Progressive rock is a musical style dominated by Great-Britain since the Eighties. While its historic bands IQ and PENDRAGON keep on with their careers with a true success, numerous modern line-ups try to perpetuate this now tradition. If the Dutch and Italians were able to significantly erode this monopoly, the French are still waiting... ARRAKEEN was the sole exception to this rule and got a relative success in the early Nineties. Nowadays, SKEEM goes for it again, and with great style ! Not only does it have excellent vocal lines in English (comparable to JADIS's Gary CHANDLER), but also Serge BARBARO himself performs excellent keyboards and guitar parts that can remind both of Sylvain GOUVERNAIRE and Nick BARRETT. The line-up also includes a perfect rhythm section for it, given that it's no less than that of... PRIAM !!! Do we still have to add something else ?…

What is the Grand Skeem? It's like the perfect birthday cake. Follow me-the cake would be the hip-hop foundation upon which the beats are based; the icing would be the rock frosting spread evenly upon its surface; and the punk nuances serve as the filling, completing the tasty dessert. Within each bite there's that taste of hip-hop, rock and punk.

I am a fan of Aaron Carter and bought this album because Aaron recorded Grand Skeem's "Shorti" as "My Shorty". Aaron Carter's version is quite close to the original on track 4 of this album. Track 15 is a remix which sounds completely different. This is sort of like an adult Aaron Carter album, which I am surprised did not include a "Parental Advisory" label. Sadly it will be difficult to get radio airplay because the government prohibits the use of the "F-Word". This is some great party music. So far my favorites are the remake of Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back", "Party Time", "In-n-Out", "Hit-n-Run", and "Shorti". There is reference to a girl named "Shorti" throughout this album. Obviously the folks at Jive records have been paying attention to this band. Aaron Carter's recent material sounds a lot like this record. Lead vocalist Ali Dee even sounds like Aaron Carter.

I got my Grand Skeem online a few weeks ago, and then saw them live in Philadelphia, (actually King of Prussia), and I have to say this album rocks me like nothing else.....I have not stopped listning to it since I got it, and after seeing them live I have to say this is the best pop/rock/punk group I have seen or heard....Sorry Blink, I still love ya! Buy this cd, then go see them in concert and I bet ya you will not turn this cd off for a long time........

Only good words come to mind when I think about this album. Every track has got something too it, that you cant find anywhere else...These guys have worked so hard for this and look at the results, an AMAZING album for your hearing. I'd recommend you pick up your copy today.Every song will have you up and out of your seat, and while your buying your copy, why not stop off at a show, it only gets better there. This album is deffenitly by far one of the best of 2003.

Hey just wanted to say that I got my Grand Skeem album last week and I love it. This is a must have record.....I saw these guys in Dallas last April and could not wait for their album to be released. Hope they get to Dallas again sometime soon......You guys ROCK.

The Grand Skeem rocks! They are fun, bumpin', and rockin'. I saw the guys at a show and they rocked. My boyz and I couldn't wait to get the CD. The remake of Baby Got Back is smokin. The album is sorta like Blink but better!!!!!

being that it's only a single i'm giving it four stars. I have an album with more of their songs that I got at a concert and it's really great. The grand skeem is awesome and people should get this album. If not this album, go buy "The Animal" soundtrack where their songs are featured. So buy their stuff and request them at your local radio stations and spread them around coz thier gonna be big.
