Palo Alto Voice, May 5, 2004
Full of pure genius....The album starts with a bang and continues with the same energy throughout.

Product Description
On their debut CD, California-based professor Stuart Rosh and his band, The Geniuses, merge a vintage, road house sound with smart, here and now lyrics. Blues, honky tonk, folk, and gospel provide the backdrop to stories about grown men and women grappling with love, children, politics, and a funny and tragic world that sometimes just plain doesn't make sense.

Pedal steel, fiddle and an occasional nasty Telecaster drive songs that by turns make you laugh or shed a tear, and always keep your feet tapping.

Critics call Stuart's award winning songs "captivating and fascinating" and "compelling." Grammy-winning producer Alan Abrahams says it's "excellent music." Sony Music executive Cliff Audretch says it's "great stuff, the kind of music I like to listen to when I get home."

Accept No Imitations is an album of rich story-telling free of pretensions or artifice. It's music that makes you smile and reflect, full of songs with finely drawn characters and narratives that resonate with every day experience.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Honest and fun music.......2004-09-10

I heard Stuart playing solo live on my local radio station and bought this CD. The band is great, Stuart's voice is down home and strong, and the songs, well the songs are really what make this CD stand out. I listen to this CD in my car constantly and my husband and kids tease me about singing the songs in the shower. If you like down home music and want something fresh and better than the slick stuff on country radio, this CD is the ticket.
