Record Of Small Histories is what's playing most frequently on my stereo these days. The record holds 7 songs filled with experimental rock with a strong space-touch, it's atmospheric without beeing silly and at the same time its incredibly catchy.

Product Description
The Timeout Drawer's sound is best-described as well composed post-rock. Amorphous guitars, omni-present bass, and Moog leads combine to deliver moving, emotional melodies and counter-melodies. Fluttering drums complete the mix. At its base, The Timeout Drawer relies on careful, collaborative songwriting, replete with thoughtful riffs and harmonies. The Timeout Drawer harnesses member Ray Dybzinski's expertise in the art of electronic audio manipulation in the band's "dimensional" presentation of its sounds. The organic, animated sound of old analog keyboards and dusty guitars is compelled via electronic trickery to expand beyond the speakers and fill the room in a seductive swirl.

4 out of 5 stars Small Histories Yield Big Rewards..........2005-09-25

This album is an expertly-layered, beautiful, and mellow slice of post-rock. Unlike the majority of other post-rock bands, the emphasis here is on the keyboards; making for a unique sound in a genre full of virtual clone bands.

The album suffers from a vocalist who should have never emerged from the woodwork. The songs without any singing are far better, with "Lull" the lock for best song on the disc.

Perfect for winding down or going to sleep, 'Record of Small Histories' is not the ultimate album... but you may find yourself listening to it on a ridiculously frequent basis. Recommended for fans of Explosions in the Sky, Yo La Tengo, and the gentler side of Mogwai.
