Editorial Reviews
From the Label
Some things spring from the womb fully-formed, and it's no use trying to reckon how or why. Still in their late teens, The Rondelles epitomize this phenomenon, nonchalantly forging bona fide gems of hand-your-ass-to-you, britpunk-influenced pop as if theyd been doing it for decades. On every possible level - writing, production, performance - this album sounds near-pitch-perfect, anthem upon anthem charging relentlessly across its short, sweet span.

The band formed in Albuquerque as 11th graders, and what started as a garage-bound pastime quickly revealed its serious potential. After playing some local shows and firing off the requisite 4-track demotape-volley, they suddenly found themselves spoiled with opportunity. Clearly some karmic stockpile was spewing, as offers to record and perform began pouring in from some of the heaviest quarters of independent music.

Hustling up a nice spate of self-booked shows this past spring/summer helped the band grow tighter as a performing unit and spread the word, and opening gigs for such hallowed playas as the Make-Up, Sleater-Kinney and Sonic Youth are priming them for the bigtime. With future material promised to such formidable labels as Teenbeat, K and Rhino, we consider ourselves priveledged to present their debut LP to the world.

4 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for angry grrls & the boys who love them.......2004-03-24

Cheesy hammond organ, big guitars, cutecore vocals, and acne-mottled skin. Definitely appropos for fans of Tuscadero or the Donnas, or am I pigeon-holing just 'cause they got a riot teen sound going? Well, regardless this album is the jelly in my donut, the hydrogen in my water, the cream in my coffee... And it's only 20 minutes long. You can listen to it 3 times in an hour.

I wish the rondelles had never gotten that additional guitar player. He looks like the middle Hanson brother and totally messes with their mod aesthetic. And they don't play songs about drag races anymore either, which is a total loss to the songs-about-drag-races genre. As for the rest of the CD, I really think that one listen to "mission irresistable" will have you singing along with it for years. It will make you want to find the nearest dorky sensitive boy and take him down to the roller rink so you can hold hands til it's DARK... Also: how is it possible that someone who lives in gambier ohio likes this cd? Isn't that a tiny rural town with nothing in it but some preppy college? What a mystery. Kudos to the rondelles for attracting such a diverse fan base.

This album is Maximum Rock N' Roll Overload. Totally!

A must for anyone and everyone who likes music.

Hey... I like the organ. Definitely appropos for fans of Tuscadero or the Donnas, or am I pigeon-holing just 'cause they got a riot teen sound going? 5 out of 5 stars this is a great cd.......1999-03-17

seriously, this is a fantastic cd, if you like the sort of 50's-pop-meets-90's-rock style. the keyboards can be kind of jangly and annoying at times, but once you realize that oakley plays them with one drumstick while drumming with the other, you can forgive it. juliet's voice is clear and strong, and the songs have great (and funny) lyrics. best songs are "he's out of sight" and "mission: irrestistable." definitely check this cd out if you like the donnas or little red car wreck type music.
