4 out of 5 stars Good companion for Battlestar Fans.......2007-05-07

If you're a Battlestar Galatica Fan, this audio is an excellent companion to your collection. Passacaglia, Forgiven, and The Shape of Things to Come are emotional and addictive orchestral soundtracks. Not every song from the first season is included in this CD. The opening credit songs for the UK and the US versions and the battle songs (The Thousandth Landing, Battle on the Asteroid) are included. Battlestar Muzaktica is quite odd and doesn't fit with the collection of songs.

5 out of 5 stars Captures the feel of the show.......2007-04-11

Has a great selection of songs from the 1st season. I like show/movie CDs that you can picture the scenes and emotion of the actors when you hear the song. The Celtic underlays are great, and the Taiko drumming style is very well used for building intensity in the music. If you really like the series, you should probably really enjoy the music as well!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Soundtrack.......2007-04-11

If you like the music in a scene that just blends in and makes the scene even more emotional or suspenseful, that is what the scores from season one do on this cd. I initially bought it to for the prologue (cylon music) and the two main titles (U.S. and U.K.) but after listening to the entire cd, I have become completely addicted to it. The titles of the scores usually give you a hint of the scene and the liner notes also tell you the episode that they are from but the soundtrack has definitely made rewatching season one an even more intriguing experience. The scores with words, are written by Bear and are in various languages, but the words, especially the opera piece, are actually so dead one with the scene and in this specific scene hilarious. I love this soundtrack. If you are someone who is addicted to really grasping everything that happens in this show and watch and analyze it beyond face value, this is an added bonus to have in your collection. I highly recommend it!!!

4 out of 5 stars BSG.......2007-04-10

Man I love the Classic and the Present BSG's So Inaturally find the SoundTrack/Score A joy and very relaxing. They tend to sound very similar but they are very diffrent.

5 out of 5 stars Agree with everyone else.......2007-03-28

There have been lots of raving reviews of this album, as well as the equally sensational season 2 soundtrack. I just wanted to add my opinion on one track, "Destiny". An earlier review describes an Arabic string instrument being used, but it is actually a biwa, a traditional Japanese instrument that has such a distinct sound that it's hard to imagine it being used for anything other than traditional gagaku music. I don't know if anyone but McCreary has ever tried to use this instrument for something else, but it hardly matters. The fact that McCreary managed to use it so effectively in a piece that is so different from gagaku music is a perfect testament to his unique genius. I'm really looking forward to following McCreary's career.

It's nothing short of remarkable that Roger Waters has built a successful career on obsessive ruminations on alienation, megalomania, and guilty fame, largely on the backs of one of history's most long-lived arena acts. The musical legacy Waters has shared with "another band" (as he sharply refers to his former Pink Floyd mates in this collection's self-penned liner notes) has served two distinctly different functions: part and parcel of the latter's nostalgia act; autobiographical foundation for the former's ongoing, if decidedly egocentric, Rage at the World. That's essentially the rationale this live collection uses to lean heavily on Waters's Pink prime, from Dark Side of the Moon through The Final Cut. And if that frame sometimes overshadows the images of Waters's solo work--well, no one said he wasn't a pragmatic entertainer. Still, his cynical eye insures the juxtapositions work well; the Falkland-conflicted Britain of The Final Cut's "Get Your Filthy Hands off My Desert" and "Southampton Dock" is neatly bookended by Amused to Death's "Bravery of Being out of Range." There's a telling musical contrast with Floyd here, too, and it's one that goes beyond the album's stellar recording techniques. Waters's ensemble breathes new life into even the coldest of the Floydian dirges, while giving the hoary psychedelic romp "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" a welcome R&B groove. Waters concludes by offering up the previously unrecorded "Each Small Candle"--and an equally unexpected ray of hope. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Concert..........2007-05-28

Although you can't really compare David Gilmour's Pink Floyd performances to Roger Waters', I think I'm leaning more towards Roger's :) The standout track here is "Dogs" :)

5 out of 5 stars Just perfect.......2007-05-21

The choice of tracks is close to perfection, I would have like to hear more "Amused to death" but that's OK. The sound is amazing, great recording. A special mention for the amazing version of "Dogs", the vocal of Jon Carin is just perfect, I would have asked him to sing the following songs "Breath", "Time" (sorry Roger !)"Money" and the chorus of "Confortably Numb" because is voice is really great and not too different from David Gilmour's voice. Roger has not the voice for "Time" and Doyle Bramhall II is really amazing on guitars but he should let someone else sings, this is just my personal taste here. Finally, I am quite sure that Roger doesn't sing the middle part of "Every Stranger eyes", his voice is very different from the original version in the easiest parts, and it is very strange to see that his voice become a real copy of the original in the hardest part to sing ...hum ! If you have the DVD like I do, you'll notice that you have no "close up" on Roger in this part of the song, which make me think that I might be right ! Overall,
highly recommanded for Pink Floyd and Roger Waters fans.

One of the breakout stars of 1998, DMX wasted little time in following up his No. 1 album It's Dark and Hell Is Hot with Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. If the quick turnaround seems surprising, maybe it's because DMX's second LP doesn't fall far from the original tree. Key to his formula, DMX has mastered the art of thug-life anthems, following in the dubious footsteps of 2Pac and Noreaga. While his gruff voice and simple delivery help make his songs infectious, they're rarely creative, especially with anemic beats, redundant subject matter, and his trademark barks. Basically, Flesh of My Flesh is a perfect buy for those who couldn't wait a whole year for another DMX LP, but it won't convert many new listeners. --Oliver Wang

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Just 'cause I love my n*****, I shed blood 4 my n*****.......2007-06-12

I was introduced to DMX, of all places, on Mase's 1st CD on a track entitled "24 Hours To Live". The track featured Black Rob, The LOX and DMX with an energetic Puff Daddy on the chorus. Soon after that track, I heard him on the LOX's "Money, Power, & Respect" which also featured Lil Kim. I was shopping for music one day and I found a CD Maxisingle to "Get At Me Dog", which also had the track "Stop Being Greedy" on it. Based on the reputation of his verses on "24 Hours To Live" and "Money, Power & Respect", I decided to purchase the CD Maxisingle eventhough I hadn't heard it. "Get At Me Dog" was produced by Dame Grease and was full of energy. It used the same sample that EPMD had used for "Get The Bozack". DMX had some choice words for a particular rapper, who I later found out was K-Solo, and he definitely had me anticipating his solo debut. "Stop Being Greedy" ended up being his 2nd single and was also a tight track. DMX's "It's Dark And Hell Is Hot" dropped in 1998 and is easily my favorite CD from DMX. My favorite tracks ended up being "Ruff Ryders' Anthem", "F*****' Wit' D", "Get At Me Dog", "Damien", "Crime Story", "ATF" and "N***** Done Started Something" w/The LOX and Mase.

One of my boys told me that DMX was droppin' another CD before the end of the year and of course, I didn't believe him. It was hard for me to believe that DMX would drop 2 CDs in the same calendar year. However, in December of 1998, DMX's 2nd CD, "Flesh Of My Flesh Blood Of My Blood" was released. Usually, before I listen to a CD I will check the liner notes for production credits, guest appearances, etc. I was immediately stunned to see DMX covered in blood and in a devilish mind state. However, I was still able to enjoy the music once I put the CD in my stereo. The CD starts off with one of DMX's famous quotes on Jay Z's "Money, Cash, Hoes" from his "Volume 2...Hard Knock Life" Disc. From there DMX does his best attempt to make you not want to listen to the CD in "Bring Your Whole Crew". The beat is tight and DMX even has decent lyrics on the track at times. However, you have to draw the line at some point when it comes to the lyrics. I am sure people that have followed DMX know what I am talking about, I guess he wanted his lyrics to reflect the way that he looked on the CD cover on this track. DMX gets his slow flow on with "Ain't No Way". Swizz Beatz was able to produce more tracks this time around because of the success of DMX's "Ruff Ryders' Anthem". The remix was featured on DJ Clue's "The Professional" CD. "We Don't Give A F***" features Styles P from the LOX and Jadakiss on the hook. DMX sounds as if he is calling someone out just as he did on "Get At Me Dog" and things workout because of the tight production by Irv Gotti and Rebel and because of quality contributions from 2/3 of The Lox. The queen of hip hop/r&b, Mary J. Blige joins DMX as he tries to explain where he is "Coming From". PK, who produced "Bring Your Whole Crew" gives DMX a nice track and DMX is able to spit retrospective rhymes just like he did on the 1st single "Slippin'". "The Omen" is the sequel to "Damien" from "It's Dark And Hell Is Hot" and things still end up working on Part 2. I admit that I was surprised to hear Marilyn Manson on the hook put things still end up working. Swizz Beatz gives DMX and Drag-On a nice uptempo track to allow them to get some things started in the club on "No Love 4 Me". The production is definitely tight and I am sure that you listened to this track as much as I did back in the day.

The track that hands down is my favorite song has to be "Blackout". You get a track with no hook or chorus that gives you A+ verses from Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P. from the LOX, Jay-Z, who clearly put DMX to shame on this track and DMX finishing things off at the end. This is clearly an example of the guests getting the best of the rapper whose CD it is. However, the collaboration is still top notch and is one of my favorite rap collaborations of all time. "Heat" continues where "Blackout" left off, however, DMX shines as he gets his own platform to show you that the heat is always on in the streets. Swizz Beatz is on the hook and this is definitely one of my favorites on this CD.

After, all the tales of violence and what happens to unsuspecting people out of the blue, it was nice to see DMX take a break just as he did on "Slippin'" and "Coming From" to tell you that he is "Ready To Meet Him". DMX thanks the Lord just as he did on "Prayer" from his debut. The track starts off with another thoughtful prayer and DMX ends the CD off on a nice note as he raps his open letter to the man above.

Overall, this was a nice sequel to "It's Dark And Hell Is Hot". DMX gave you the same fiery lyrics and Swizz Beatz had his coming out party with the production. You can listen to the whole CD but you should definitely be able to tell the better songs from the others. With Def Jam, releasing "DMX's Greatest Hits: Pick Of The Litter" on 6/12/07, I figured I would dig back into the collection to give you a review of one of my favorite rap CDs of the past.

One Love Boomer!!

4 out of 5 stars In Less Than A Year............2007-01-27

After the following of the very well received debut of "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot"....I personally think DMX might have pushed his sophomore effort out there a little too quickly thinking that his newly developed fans would quickly forget about him and dismiss him as a one album wonder. Whatever the case may be, DMX(Earl Simmons in his late 30's at the time might I add) pumped out this gem. No, it's not a sequel to his outstanding debut but it receives my respect all the same. My favorite cut would have to be "Slippin'"....and despite the overused quoted chorus of "I'm slippin' I've fallen and I can't get up", X tells an eloquent ghetto poem. However, with only releasing this only 7 months after the release of his debut, X proves that he has staying power.

4 out of 5 stars Two Albums In One Year...Thats A Rarity...Especially If They're Both Dope (Rating:8 out of 10- -4 stars).......2006-11-22

Yes people, 1998 DMX dropped two albums: It's Dark And Hell Is Hot and Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood. In my opinion, this is my favorite one of all he's made, to include the recent Year Of The Dog Again. I remember I had this when it first came out around '98/'99, in middle school, and I might have played tracks 6-14 every day for about 3 months straight. Thats how much I loved this album.

Anyway X showed that he was on point with this album here. I recall one of the lead singles was "Slippin"...and they must have forgotten to put the unedited version on here, although you can find it on the internet. What I seemed to notice is that DMX likes to rhyme about his life growing up, and it seems to work like on the song "Comming From" and as mentioned earlier "Slippin", which works well. X's lyrical skills were also on another level, as he spits flames on the song "Keep Your Sh..The Hardest" as well as on the title track "Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood". Two of my favourites are the traditonal songs (the ones that appear on almost every album) "The Omen (aka Damien II)" with dark vocals from Marlyn Manson, as well as "(The Prayer II)/Ready To Meet Him", and out of all the ones he's done on every album, these are the best ones.

Production is good. It's mostly dark sounding, something I like for the most part, mostly done by Swizz Beats.

Guest wise is good too. The Lox comes in for two songs "We Don't Give A F" as well as "Blackout" which would also feature Jay-Z.

The only problems I have with the album is the beginning. "My N****z" & "Ain't No Way" are the only skippable tracks on here. Also the skits are really not needed through out this album. Other than that this is one that you really need to cop. I seriously doubted that DMX ever topped this album throughout his career, but it is definately worth hearing.

5 out of 5 stars A fine Roxy album for the non-roxy fan.......2007-02-19

The maturity of the band shows through in addition to a nod to thier roots by doing the covers of Midnight Hour and Eight Miles High. If you are not already a Roxy fan or you are and you'r indoctrinating some one who'es never heard of them this is the album to play. "OH Yeah" is my favorite cut and one that gives full expression to Ferry's vocal emotions.

4 out of 5 stars More Than Hits (3.5 stars).......2007-01-29

The reformed Roxy Music of the late seventies still released great singles, but somehow lost the knack for making great albums. Flesh and Blood, the band's second full-length from this period and their seventh total, is mostly comprised of worthwhile material, but has a few wretched fillers that drag the overall album down. Banal covers of The Byrds' Eight Miles High and Wilson Pickett's Midnight Hour are superfluous at best, while Rain Rain Rain stinks stinks stinks. The remainder of Flesh and Blood gracefully advances the maturation of Roxy's experimental glam rock into stylish, New-Romantic pop. Roxy were beginning to sound more like their imitators (Ultravox, Japan, Associates) by this time, but beneath the veneer of tousled, continental elegance lay that same aura of mystery, estrangement, and decay that characterized their pivotal earlier recordings. Avalon, the band's eighth and final studio album, may have been a more graceful, cohesive affair, but this often overlooked record has a higher concentration of truly great songs.

5 out of 5 stars Roxy Music's "Flesh and Blood".......2007-01-11

This 1980 album from Roxy Music has no bad tracks, three or four very good ones, and two songs that are excellent. Most people will like "The Midnight Hour," a cover of the Wilson Pickett song and "Eight Miles High," a cover of a Crosby, Stills and Nash tune. The rest are all Roxy Music originals by Brian Ferry, some cowritten with Phil Manzanera. The two standouts are "Same Old Scene," a technorock masterpiece and "Over You," that starts out silly and transforms into some of the most beautiful head music you've ever heard.

5 out of 5 stars Superb Stuff............2006-12-04

Yes, this collection would have to be on the list of Very Enjoyable
Sound, whether or not one is a Roxy/Bry follower. The Bass guitar work
of Gary Tibbs alone makes this CD UN-REAL baby!!

5 out of 5 stars Probably their best.......2005-10-10

Probably their best album. It has not aged as much as the preceding ones and seems less affected by trends.

5 out of 5 stars David Gray is a Musical Treasue !!.......2007-02-23

Right when I was starting my "must buy every David Gray CD available" I had trouble tracking this CD down. One day I found it in a used CD store after asking if they had any Gray CD's. The man working there said "well, only this one...it's not White Ladder." I couldn't believe how close minded he was to only care about what was "Hot" at the time. I said "Yeah...but it's David Gray so I'm sure it's great". The first track (What are You?)was very aggressive and angry and as much as I liked it right away I was afraid that it would be "Theme Album" like so many tend to do. His whole album could have been that abrasive. That's when I learned something about Gray that has served me well ever since: David Gray uses certain sounds and instruments only if it benifits a song then lets it go. He never forces a instument through an entire album. Case in point is "Mystery of Love" which is the only song that has Pedal Steel in it and what an amazing sound. His songs make your soul ache for more. His lyrics are so cryptic yet beautiful it's a pleasure to feel them wash over you. I have heard that this album originally was his poorest selling out of all his efforts but it was due to no promotional effort by the record company not the superb music recorded hear. For those customers who fear that there is a chance any of his albums may lack compaired to others, have no fear David Gray is one of the few in this world whose work always adds to the world of music. I hope this helped:)

5 out of 5 stars David Gray is one of my favorite singer-songwriters, Period........2005-10-01

Clever writing. He has a knack for blending lyrics with melodies that is rare these days. Great album!

5 out of 5 stars Something to make you appreciate life..........2005-09-23

I have every CD David Gray has put out...This is one of my favorite's. "Coming Down" hit home and the heart. Every lyric, every line of words, hit home & the heart. Yes, Its deep, but it is a soul shiner!!!!!!!!!!!!! " Loves old song" a treasure.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2005-07-17

I'm not gonna lie i got a burned copy of this cd from a friend and didnt think much of it when i first got it....Now i cant imagine not ever having this cd. New horizon is my favorite song on this cd. i love every track and could listen to it all day but new horizon reminds me of the beginning of my freshman year in college. " Things come too easy, I get suspicious
things come too slow, I get bored
if it don't work out I get superstitious
but if it does, oh my word"
that quote in itself describes my life. AMAZING CD cant wait for his new stuff

5 out of 5 stars Bob Dylan meets William Shakespeare.......2005-03-26

That's what I thought the first time I heard a clip of the song Flesh and was immediately hooked. Well, maybe not Shakespeare, possible William Blake or the other Dylan, Dylan Thomas?

Gray is definitely a brilliant singer/songwriter in the folk genre and it shows here. Every song on here is at least really good if not great. Most people have already mentioned what I consider to be the highlights: What Are You, Coming Down, and Flesh. The rest are also fine songs.

Flesh & Blood finds the ultimate party band of the 80s taking a more serious tack. Surprisingly enough, most of the time it works, and the result is a collection of songs with more substance than Poison's previous work, while preserving the band's sense of fun. "Valley of Lost Souls", "Life Loves a Tragedy", and the introspective "Life Goes On" show that Poison is in fact capable of writing good songs that aren't party anthems, though "Something to Believe In" stretches their ambition to the breaking point. "Unskinny Bop" is a delightful piece of raunchy adolescent rock, and "Ride the Wind" is a catchy biker tune (though nowhere near as classic as "Born to Be Wild"-then again, nothing is). The band even veers toward a bluesier edge at times, notably on "Poor Boy Blues". -- Genevieve Williams

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Perhaps Poison's Best Original Album.......2007-07-10

Although it lacks a little of the "party band" punch that made Poison a top glam rock band, "Flesh & Blood" is definitely one of their best albums. It showed the listening audience that they knew about more than just partying, drinking, and sexcapades. The band collectively offers up one of their strongest efforts music-wise, especially C.C. Deville, who has some wonderful guitar solos here. They aren't all in the "who plays fastest?" vein. Instead, Deville gets to slow things down quite a bit.

Songs such as "Something To Believe In" and "Life Goes On" show that the band can actually sit down and write a good serious song. Don't worry that Poison is hanging up their goodtimes shoes, though, because songs like "Don't Give Up An Inch" and the wonderfully silly "Unskinny Bop" remind the listener that they still know how to have a good time.

If you're looking for a sweet reminder of your youth (like me), "Flesh & Blood" is definitely the poison you need to pick. It's their best album lyrically and quite possibly their best album overall.

5 out of 5 stars Poison's best cd.......2007-04-19

If I had to prove to people that Poison was a great rock band and better then Motley Crue, i'd play this cd. The first song Valley Of Lost Souls is a excellent rock song then it just keeps rocking until the ballad, Life Goes On, rocks some more then the hit Something To Believe In. A great cd to any collection. There is more to Poison then just the hair.

4 out of 5 stars Poison Grows Up.......2006-09-12

On their first two albums, Poison were complete unapologetic about their party hard approach to life and music. On their third studio release, things change. The album kicks off with a little instrumental tune called "Strange Days Of Uncle Jack", while not annoying, the track really doesn't add anything to the album. The next track "Valley Of Lost Souls" is really an awesome hard rock tune and if it were put out by just about any other band people would be raving about what a great hardcore track it is, but since it's Poison a lot of people dismiss it.

"(Flesh & Blood) Sacrifice" is a tune with a catchy chorus that makes want to jump up and scream along with the stereo. "Swampjuice Soul-O" is a quick `bluesy' solo that CC puts up, not great but it's a neat quick piece of work. "Unskinny Bop" was definitely one of Poison's big hits, and the first single off of the album. It's somewhat of a shame since the band had grown so much with this album, that they released a single that made it look like they were doing more of the same thing from the first two albums. While it's a fun track, I really don't think it holds up well over time although I do love CC's solo on this track. "Let It Play" seems to be an attempt to convey `their love of music', and it works pretty well. The band shows they have more talent and soul than they are given credit for and it shines through here. "Life Goes On" is probably my favorite Poison ballad ever, it's really a great heartfelt tribute to love lost, a bit of a tear jerker.

One of my favorite rockers the band ever put out is "Ride The Wind", a great fast paced song, that doesn't just fall into being a cheesy anthem or sing a long. Poison continues to show that they're growing up and maturing. "Something To Believe In", another of Poison's biggest hits, this is a fantastic plea for the search for meaning. Again, if someone else had put it out, the raves would never stop, but since it was Poison and they were an easy target, they just weren't given the credit deserve on this one.

This is a great solid album that still shows signs of the party band we all fell in love with on their first release, but shows great signs of maturity and development that will continue to progress in future releases. Not a must have for any rock collection, but you definitely won't regret picking this one up.

5 out of 5 stars "Flesh n Blodd Sacrifice".......2006-07-12

If you live hooked in the 90's like me I don't need to submit a review of this cd this band, I hated this band back in 1991 cause they seems to me to be a joke a really bad joke to rock music but something I do not expected was that 15 years later I'll love this cd, listening it brings me a lot of memories and thats the reason for me to have it

5 out of 5 stars This is without a doubt the best album released by Poison!!.......2006-02-18

This has to be considered one of Poison's best albums with the top five singles: "Unskinny Bop" and "Something to Believe In" included on this album and the top 40 single "Life Goes On" and "Ride the Wind". This album peaked at #2 on Billboard's 200 albums. C.C. Deville is a guitar genius and has to be considered as great as Slash. C.C. Deville and Slash are the best guitarists int he world and just imagine the success that Poison would have made with Slash.

This is Poison's best album and a must-have.

5 out of 5 stars Free Flesh N' Bone!!!!.......2006-05-24

Flesh N' Bone was like the sweetest off Bone Thugs next to Bizzy because he had that skill to just have you like oooohhhhh that's hard. He did a great job on his first CD this is like a classic for me. There's alot of a good songs on here like "Sticks and Stones", "Empty The Clip", and "World So Cruel". Great album off da bones archives. A lot of people startin' to think Bone Thugs gettin' too old now but I tell them to hate on the Thuggish Ruggish. This is a must have album. Free Flesh N' Bone and free my cousin Quincy!

4 out of 5 stars Not Just About the Lyrics.......2006-04-29

I'm a huge bone thugs fan, one thing that always strikes me is their variation of the stuttered flow and speed. As opposed to Twista who raps only at his speed without much variation.

It goes without out saying that Flesh is heavily underrated. If some of you so called Hip/Hop, Rap fans listen to the rapping style (flow) rather than just the lyrics you might appreciate the style better.

For example has any of you heard Flesh at the end of Handle the Vibe (no, it's not on the album). As somebody mentioned elsewhere on these reviews; listen to Mystic Spirits - he maintains a steady flow with ease over the beat.

On another note Bone were very experienced rappers for their age, also before Bizzy became spiritual Flesh was doing the spiritual stuff first just go through the albums and listen!!!!

For those who still think what the hell is he talkin' about listen to Deadly on 5th Dawg Let Loose.

Check these songs out, also feat Flesh:

Too Greedy - Skit
BYOB - Last track from 5th Dawg (japanese import)
Roof is Leaking
Untouchable - RWO feat Flesh (his final verse is awesome)

5 out of 5 stars A CD worth buying.......2006-02-25

This Cd is one of the best CD's ever, no doubt. My favorite track is "Northcoast" because it has one of the sickest most relaxing beat that i have ever heard. I like the little Jazz sound it has in the chorus. this CD is worth buying because Flesh really shows his talent as a rapper. Believe me you wanna get this album because it is a jewl.

3 out of 5 stars Good album but not a classic.......2006-02-19

"T.H.U.G.S." was the first Bone solo and displayed a similar style to the classic "E. 1999 Eternal" album. However, it falls short when trying to stack up with that album. Flesh wasn't really a big part of that album, so on "T.H.U.G.S." we finally see what he is truly capable of. There are a handful of really great songs on this album, and there are also some unnecessary filler tracks. Flesh-N-Bone is interesting to listen to on this album because he tries to walk the line between a spiritual, god fearing rapper and a murderous criminal, which makes some tracks less convincing than others. Overall, "T.H.U.G.S." is a good album by all means but doesn't really stack up to a lot of the other Bone Thugs releases.

"T.H.U.G.S." starts out with a few very spiritual tracks. The intro is just the Lord's prayer over some scary music. This gives way to the title track, a pretty spiritual track with a good chorus and beat. "Rev Run Sermon" lets the great Joseph Simmons get a little preaching in. "World So Cruel" is one of the better songs here, a message track with good verses by Flesh and Run and a nice hook. The best track on the CD is "Nothin But Da Bone In Me". It's a very raw, hard song, with a great piano and instrumental beat, it's got an almost g-funk style and Flesh rips his trademark triple time rhymes. "Northcoast" is another of the best songs, a very laidback track with great instrumentals and a relaxed singing sample. "The Silence Isn't Over" is a very hard song, but like a lot of the songs on the second half of the album, it goes on for too long (6+ minutes). "Crazy By The Flesh" is a good song, a weird chorus supplied with a great bassline makes it worth it. The second half of the album is much worse than the first, plagued by unnecessarily long and repetitive filler tracks. The exception is "Comin to Serve You" where Flesh and BG Knocc Out display great chemistry. The album ends with two pretty strong tracks, "No Mercy" with Fat Joe and Big Pun and "Playa Hater with Layzie and Krayzie Bone.

This album had the potential to be a really great album but fell short. Flesh-N-Bone is a pretty talented rapper, he has a lot to say but sometimes he's so fast that he kind of leaves your head spinning. His voice is good to listen to, kind of between Layzie and Bizzy Bone's voice. "T.H.U.G.S." is a good album to listen to if you can find it, but don't expect any "East 1999 Eternal" or the like here.

Can't have the 80's without Flesh...Postcards from Paradise one of the best songs ever!

5 out of 5 stars One of the most underrated bands of the '80s.......2007-03-01

I wore this thing out when I was in college. I have been waiting for it, among other Flesh re-releases. Finally, we are starting to see them. Here is hoping there are more on the way. The beauty of Flesh for Lulu is that they made creative songs with hooks. You do not have to strain to "get" the songs, they are good at first listen and stay good.

5 out of 5 stars I love this CD/Album/Tape. . .. .......2007-01-18

It was my brother that turned me on to it. I had this brand new on cassette tape and wore it out. I was glad that it was placed on CD. I have burnt it MP3 and I have it on my iPod. The songs on this album are all upbeat and fun. I especially like "Lucky Day," "Hammer of Love," "Siamese Twist," & "I Go Crazy." Great 80s music.

Okay, wow! I have been waiting YEARS for this to be reissued. This has got to be one of the BEST albums from the '80s!! "Postcards From Paradise" was the soundtrack to my senior year of high school. Even the lesser known songs "Sleeping Dogs", "Crash" and "Lucky Day" are amazing! And the bonus tracks *bows to Superfecta* I'm just amazed I actually have this.

3 out of 5 stars It took it's sweet time, but it grew on me..........2007-02-03

I will admit that upon my first listen I was left a little off. This is far from what I thought I was getting myself into. I had never heard anything from her before but she was recommended to me by a friend and after looking at her impressive list of guest stars (Twista, Anthony Hamilton, Common) I didn't hesitate to long to purchase her album. Her interlude immediately set me off. Its way to preachy and then her first real track `Hypnotic' kicks in and totally disproves everything she expressed in the opener. That said, after listening to this album a few times I've come to fall for her.

She has a very strong voice, unique and different and I like that. She doesn't sound like every other R&B diva out there...she's her own woman. I will say that there are a few times on the album where I feel her voice is too mature for the songs she's trying to pull off. Songs like `More' with the brilliant Anthony Hamilton really showcase this woman's talent. `Leave me Alone' is another highlight, and even `Hypnotic' is handled well, although it's not something I think she should stick to. I was troubled to find that `Phone Sex' is my least favorite track here. I LOVE Twista but this song just does nothing for me.

Oh well...to think I hated this album the first time I heard it, tucked it away and swore never to give it another try, then I did, don't know why and now I've come to appreciate it all the more...

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful.......2007-02-02

I don't write reviews. This is actually my first one. I love this album. Syleena touches on so many different subjects. I love the raspy voice. Her voice has so much texture and personality. Nobody out there sounds like her. It is really a shame that her label has not promoted her. She could rival Mary J if her label backed her.

4 out of 5 stars she's got a right to do her thing the way she wants.......2006-12-22

Okay now while i dont own this album i took the courage of listening to it on limewire. Syleena has been a good singer since she started and she is an example of what R&B is supposed to sound like. Now from my experience of this album I enjoyed it thourgly and i would have bought it when it came out if I had known(My old filesharing program didnt have any good selection, and also i was broke). Now my favorite songs on here are hypnotic, slowly, speical occasion, time, leave me alone, and only a woman. also the interludes are seductive. Okay, now I'm seeing the complaint that she sold out. Okay yes she pulled the sensual thing on this album but she never stoops down to say...KHIA(my neck my back....lick my ...well you know the rest) level. Some are saying she shed her clothes. Ummmm........didnt she kina do that on "tonight im gonna let go" and in the video she's dressed in a somewhat short skirt and top shaking her a** in front of busta rhymes?? While I admit hypnotic doesnt sound like something syleena would do, she pulled it off very well. Overall this album is not full of tired beats like that otehr person said. Yes it's a different vibe than some of her stuff in the past it still sounds like it would be on a 30 and up station rather than say your local radio station(i mean how much serious R&B is on the radio today?) She only really got sexual on two songs (phone sex and slowly). the rest of the album is love songs and a couple of her songs about wrong doin men(which she is known to sing about).

OOOH how ironic is this. From the negative reviews one person said it was just tired beats while somebody else said there were NO beats at all. Oh well I guess it's just a matter of preference.

5 out of 5 stars What is wrong w/ you guys?.......2006-11-29

I've read the reciews and it's a shame that ppl are really giving her lower stars overs TWO songs. If you read her thank you, she clearly, let me say it again, clearly asking Gog to forgive her for her sins, that she is not perfect and that and I quote, "Chapter 3: The Flesh is my testimony, my confessions of my sins....," and if you're suppose to be such big fans of hers you would know that all of her music comes from within. So if she's been a naughty, so be it. Get over it. She is grown, an adult, whose admitted to making mistakes. This cd is really nice. It's terrible that ppl really give her low starts because of TWO songs that were not distasteful.

5 out of 5 stars The best metal HAD to offer and it still kicks.......2007-04-30

Back in'98, things looked grim(to me) for Morbid Angel. But with Steve Tucker as bass and vocals, Morbid Angel was back! This is death metal at its finest complete with Trey's always awesome fretwork, Petes masterful and precise drumwork, Steves guttural demonic voice, insane polyrhythms, deep and somewhat confusing lyrics but none the less, this is a masterpiece in metal. If you like death metal, this is a MUST BUY!!!!!!!!! This is the only MA album you need besides Altars of Madness. The rest are kinda lame, well Blessed are the Sick was good. BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 out of 5 stars Pretty good. Not amazing.......2007-02-10

Some of the songs on here are excellent. Morbid Angel does a good job at creating an evil sound. However, I find myself not enjoying this album too much. I do especially like the nonmetal interludes between the death metal songs.

3 out of 5 stars At least its not Domination or Gateways - 3.5 stars.......2006-04-21

Domination was one of the biggest disapointments in the history of death metal. While some people love that album, I almost never listen to it. After the Domination tour, rumor was that Morbid Angel was no more after David Vincent had left.

Years later, Morbid Angel released Formulas Fatal to the Flesh with new vocalist Steve Tucker. Steve Tuckers vocals are your typical death metal type vocals. While he is not as commanding as David Vincent, he gets the job done. The production of the album is not as refined as their earlier material, but after the overproduced crap that was Domination, I dont mind the overall sound. Some songs are really fast, and then there are few slower songs, such as Nothing Is Not. The true highlight of the album is The Invocation of the Continuous one, which is a 10-minute song that must be heard. After purchasing and listening to this cd after it was first released, I had one thought: THESE GUYS ARE WEIRD. So, overall, I enjoy the album, but it does not compare to Morbid Angel's first 3 releases. Im happy they brought back the speedy elements, but it still feels like something is missing.

I recently saw Morbid Angel here in NYC this month with David Vincent back on vocals. It was an amazing show where they only played material from their first 4 albums. I highly recommend seeing Morbid Angel when they come to your area.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible........2005-04-23

This CD is horrible....I am rather amazed that some say its one of their best. I really enjoy some of their older stuff (before Domination). This album has a similar style to domination..but much much much more boring. I can at least to listen to domination. The only thing I can think of is that these guys have all fried their brains.
