Marco Aiello, the Red's lead singer and guitarist, goes for dramatic vocal effects whenever he can. He sits squarely in a flamboyant rock tradition that includes singers like Bono and Robert Plant. On Let's Not and Say We Did, he squeezes stylized emotion out of practically every note and syllable on the disc. Aiello is the kind of singer who interjects yeah's and ah's into melodies and likes to let the first word of a phrase catch in his throat before releasing it. Even on the CD's mellower tracks his singing is highly mannered. On this disc, various guest musicians back up the Red (whose members are Aiello and singer-bassist Victor Langhaar). The solid accompaniment expands on a foundation of steady acoustic guitar and bass playing. Let's Not presents polished sounds rooted in classic rock and its '90s progeny. --Nico Daumal

Closer in style and spirit to the Violent Femmes. . . [The Red] bring free-wheeling, rock and roll intensity and predominantly edgy, experimental songs . . . .

5 out of 5 stars An amazing work.......2001-10-05

An amazing album from two very talented artists. This is their second album and I admitt that it is beyond my expectations. I guess nothing more than quality work from two highly motivated young people. Keep the faith up. Can't wait for the third one.

5 out of 5 stars Excited new fan.......2001-06-25

I recently saw "The Red" play at Knitting Factory. I was working my normal shift that usually contains a night filled with although not bad music, not really music that makes me want to look up from my bar and hear more. Then "the Red" came on stage and my ears became aware of the fact that this band was definately something I wanted to hear more of. Great lyrics and a sassy singer to back up the talent that was rockin on the normally subdued stage. They not only played there music and left. They took everyone in the room to there world and made us want to hang out and yell for more. I see alot of bands every week at my job, but this was a band I would definately spend money to go and see. I think everyone should get a taste of "The Red" for themselves and I hope these talented musicians will be hitting LA"s airwaves real soon!!!!! You guys are "ROCK STARS" in this bartenders opnion. One thing is for sure we are definately excited about the next time they play at "The Knitting factory" and anywhere else they can spread there talent in LA!!!!!!!!

Finally, a record with thought, style, and a collection of songs that not only interact with each other - but play off each other -- but the songs don't sound the same! Amazing work. This record is a journey, and these musicians are top notch. I can't stop playing it and am dying to hear more from The Red.
