Editorial Reviews

"...echoes of obvious influences Wilco, Westerberg, and Brian Wilson...the well-crafted album captures the exuberance and indignation of youth."

Product Description
Crunchy power pop with a country twang, Cropduster (We Put Out Records) has a growing fan base from their east coast home to the west coast. They're musicians, crafting their rock in a way that recalls the Stones, the Beatles and Neil Young, without ripping them off. They've got harmonies worthy of the Byrds or the Beach Boys and they mix acoustic guitars with punk noise.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Taking over the crown as Hoboken's finest.......2002-01-16

The best band to come out of Hudson County since Yo La Tengo.

5 out of 5 stars This Drunk Uncle Treats You Nice.......2001-03-15

Earnest and sarcastic, meaningful and ambiguous, drunk and startingly sober, dark and uplifting. All these seemingly opposite elements co-exist on Cropduster's latest, "Drunk Uncle". Lead singer Marc Maurizi's lyrics and soft growl, along with Tom Gerke's distinct guitar voice all exude passion in a passive and off-handed way that draws you in. The result is an album that I get something new out of with every listen. These guys are for real. They're musicians, crafting their rock in a way that recalls the Stones, the Beatles and Neil Young, without ripping them off. They've got harmonies worthy of the Byrds or the Beach Boys, and they mix acoustic guitars with punk noise in ways that would make Wilco or Ween jealous. The rhythm section firmly backs up the frontmen, gripping your heart and controlling its beat. Buy this CD if you consider yourself a true fan of music. Put it on 'repeat' and let your Uncle get you drunk.
